Tracks being deleted by MC [Solved]
« on: March 07, 2017, 12:22:59 pm »

It appears that sometimes tracks that are in a Playlist are being deleted from my hard drive. I've noticed this because tracks that I commonly add to a playlist play are no longer on my drive.

JRiver won't remove tracks from a playlist unless you tell it to.

Are some of the tracks perhaps on drives that aren't present?

most are on my C drive (where Media Center is also located) and some have been on drive that occasionally after a reboot isn't seen so I power it off and back on and my PC sees it. Most though are on the C drive

and the issue isn't that they are removed from a playlist, the issue is the track is no longer on my drive. And these are tracks I definitely wouldn't delete. If I ever delete anything it would be an entire album. These are favorite tracks that I place in a playlist, I may delete the playlist because it was for a certain time. Later I see that the track is missing from the album entirely the rest of the album is still there.

I disagree, because these are tracks that I would commonly play and move to a playlist which I xfer to iTunes so I can hear on my phone when I'm away from home.

I did not delete these tracks. Again they aren't random tracks but popular tracks of mine from popular albums......

iTunes used to move tracks in certain cases.  I don't know if it still does.

JimH, I went and experimented with iTunes and that is indeed the issue. If I select "Remove Download" on a track it removes it from computer harddrive. If I select "Delete From Library" it only deletes it from within iTunes and it remains on my computer harddrive.....the wording almost seems backwards to me.

So I need to make sure I use "Delete From Library" within iTunes. Now I need to use the Media Center SmartList to help me find all my incomplete albums...

Thanks, take care
