SACD Crash
« on: April 30, 2017, 11:11:24 am »

I am extremely interested in seeing MC becoming 64bit aware for SACD images so that MC doesn't crash

MC should be able to handle ISO images over 4GB in size, but as it happens I have one and I'll double check later if it works as it should.

MC winks out immediately when I select either of the 2 images over 4GB that I have.   Out of curiosity which SACD do you have that is over 4GB?

Are the files local?

I have "Derek and The Dominoes - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs", which is 4.31GB in size. I briefly tried on Windows and it plays fine there. I'll get my Mac booted up and try again there later.

I'll see if I can track that one down.   Thanks!

4.31GB would be 4627827261 bytes - about the limit for a single layer DVD (4.37GB or 4692251770 bytes).    Theoretically SACDs can have a dual DSD layer of 8.54GB but I have not seen one of those in the wild (yet)

All images (including the two that cause MC to crash) are served  from a  Synology NAS via AFPFS.

It may not be significant but both of the images that are experiencing problems are dual area (stereo + multi-channel).

Well, dang it!

The two images I had problems with back in February 11, 2017 are now working correctly!   I'd tried in Feb and Mar - the problem persisted so I didn't try again after (93) was available.

It appears that the latest build (93) which was installed in mid April has cleared up the problem - both the Carpenters and Tommy play fine now.

Sorry for all the fuss and bother!   And I've bought the MC23 update so I'm all set.

Thanks again for the response (and the info about the Layla SACD - it's been ordered)

Cheers   :)

Always a good thing when issues are already resolved. :)
