Hi

I'm having some issues to set up hauppage wintv card to capture video from STB into JRiver. The card is working properly in WMC for both SAT and capture modes. into JRiver it works fine in SAT mode but when it is configured in capture mode (composite) I always get the same error: Failed to render video stream, be sure tv turner is not in use by other app. Undefined error.

Prior to attempt TV capture TV card status is idle and after  attempt status is undefined.

Please do the following:

Go to TV Options > Advanced, and click "Copy television related filter info to clipboard".  Post the result (or email to me).

One of the reasons that MC failed to render video on your device was that it could not find the hardware encoder filter "Hauppauge WinTV 88x MPEG Encoder".  When MC tried to enumerate encoder filters, it found one named filter "Hauppauge WinTV 88x Audio Capture" (a bit odd that this is in the encoder filter category), and two filters that we could not determine the name for ("Failed to read FriendlyName or Description from PropertyBag. hr=0xe0000204").

That was why I asked you to post info on "television related filter info" in my previous post.

Maybe you could try re-installing Hauppauge driver/application.

I've just updated the last  drivers from hauppage web site (WinTV-HVR-4000  2.126.30325 20/11/2012) and the issue remains the same. I can capture video into WMC but I get the same error into JRiver. Do you have any other drivers to try?

Did you try running "HCW Clear" program before re-installing the HCW software?  I don't have this particular device on hand, so I don't know which driver is the right one.

The following two devices are possibly the hardware encoder filter (one in KSCATEGORY_ENCODER category, the other in KSCATEGORY_MULTIPLEXER category.  Since we can not get their device name, we can not be sure.
