MC23 not importing playlists

Hi

I am running Windows 10 Creators Edition and just tried to upgrade from MC22 to MC23 (version 23.0.36). My playlists and other settings have not been imported. This is the steps I took:

1) Downloaded MC23
2) Obtained a new key
3) Installed MC23 using the Admin account on my PC (only use the Admin account to install things)
4) Ran the .mjr file to install the license
5) logged off Admin account and logged on general user account which I use to playback music
6) Ran MC23, this imported my music and album art
7) After import finshed checked and there were no playlists copied over, none of my custom settings were copied either (It is possible that when I first installed MC22 I set a custum location for playlists, but I have long since forgotten where such a setting is)
8 ) Closed MC23 tried to run MC22 but I now get a User Access Control window pop-up asking if I want to allow this app to makes changes and provide the Admin account password

I am now stuck, is there a way to get MC23 to read the settings of my MC22 configuration and import playlists on the general user account?

use a backup of your previous version of MC

the prompt is normal when switching between versions of MC

Hi

I just tried a File > Library > backup on MC 22 and then a File > Library > restore on MC23.

Alas it does not work, MC23 says restore complete restarting ... but after restarting no settings have changed, my playlists are still missing. I checked an easy to check settings and the audio is still set to that during the installation at direct rather than the WASAPI I configured in MC22.

Any other suggestions I can try? Keen to get my settings imported as I changed some difficult ones such as adding a subgenre field and I would struggle to remember all the changes I made back when I first purchased MC22.

Try a search for zip files.  You're probably not finding the MC22 backup.

Got import to work thanks. A user error and there was a hint as to why on my original post  :-[

In MC22 I had set a custom backup export location to a different drive. In MC23 there was an export zip file of the same name, I guess created during the various times I tried something in MC23. I only noticed when I created a new backup export in MC22 with the name test which was not then appearing in MC23. When I pointed MC23 to import this new test export it restored my settings and playlists :)

Hi,

I am having trouble with this also.

I have just got MC23, was on 20. From
File>
Import Playlist>
it takes me to a Windows option screen with the MC23 options for Data, Drivers, Plugins etc etc. So I could go into MC20 and select the Playlist Data but where is that? I can't see it obviously.

Do you have any playlists to import?

Maybe you mean export?

Right click on a playlist in MC.  You can export it.

Playlist created in MC20, I want to 'Import' it to MC23.

Haven't deleted MC20 yet, are you saying I should be able to 'Export' it from MC20 to MC23?

Surely if that's possible I should be able to 'Import' from MC20 to MC23?

You could try restoring a backup from MC20.
