Library cannot auto-import opus files
« on: August 19, 2017, 10:17:32 am »

Hi,

I'm using trial version of JRiver MediaCenter v23 while considering to buy it. I run into only one issue during this time.
I have couple of my music albums encoded in opus format. JRiver can perfectly play them, but unfortunately it has problem to import them into library.
I configured auto-import and marked all audio file types (opus is there). Other audio files are successfully imported into library.
Is this a bug, or I'm doing something wrong? Please advise.

Thanks,
Konrad

Could be a bug.  We'll check next week.

I just set up my auto-import to look at a folder with an OPUS file in it and it imported perfectly.

Not sure why you'd be seeing something different.

Make sure you have the OPUS type checked in the file types list for the import.

If you import manually (maybe drag-n-drop from Explorer) does that work?

Yeah, I double checked my file types in auto-import and OPUS is selected. I tried import manually and it still doesn't work.
Maybe there is something is wrong with my opus audio files then (6 channel, 48khz opus)?
But, still I can play them perfectly fine in Media Center...

Thanks,

If you can play them, that means they show up in Playing Now.

What if you right-click the files there and pick "Import Into Library"?

Perhaps they have been imported but have something other than Audio in the Media Type tag. Look in Videos, or Files.

Ok, I figured this out. Originally those files were made some time ago using AIMP player and tagged using AIMP Advanced Tag Editor. Tags were perfectly visible there.
Somehow, JRiver is not able to read those tags, so files were imported into library, but under empty artist/album/year etc (that's why I cannot find them).
I manually re-tagged those files using JRiver this time, and now everything looks good. Strange indeed or maybe I did something wrong. I'm not sure.

Thank you all for your help! Very appreciated.
