Metered connection data consumption when idle
« on: September 29, 2017, 04:30:51 am »

I am starting using JRiver with a data SIM over a metered connection (15 Gbyte/month) and I noticed that JRiver is consuming a small amount of data EVEN IF it is not playing anything.  Long term this may hurt my pocket :)
I wonder how to avoid this (I will use wireshark or other complicate strategy, still I like to ask the team for this)
Maybe it is connecting to some aprtenr site bloatware?
Thanks you so much

Media Network communicates with the JRiver servers in order to provide the Access Key functionality.
Other than that, there's the start page when you open a new tab and the auto-update checking.

All of these should be pretty negligible.

No bloatware of any description, and blocking MC with your firewall will do no harm (Unless of course you're using DLNA or networked media)
