Stack description, converting and sync of files
« on: October 11, 2017, 11:37:41 am »

Hello friends, can someone please explain to me what stack means and for what that is used?

Sync of files:
When I convert Flac files to my Portable USB disk and sync them, I get this stack file icon. At the same time an audio file is created under C: \ Users \ XXX \ Music \ JRiver Conversion Cache.

That would mean, if I sync 10.000 files on the USB drive, I get at the same time 10,000 new files on my C: \ drive.

Has anyone a solution please ?

Dear JimH, I was reading the wiki - thanks for that. This was not solving my problem.
Why do I get a stack when I convert an audio file to a handheld USB device?
Why are additional files stored in my system disk?
This is written in the Wiki:

Stacks as Cache:
Currently only available for the handheld conversions. When enabled under MC's Handheld options (select Cache converted file (via a stack) under Options->Handheld->Conversion->Conversion Cache), MC does several things.

But I cannot find this feature - see attached picture. MC Version 23.0.70

Thnaks for your help in advance

Dear JimH - I found it now - under Options-File Location.
See attachment.

If it bugs you, like it does me, just turn the conversion cache off.  Done.  :)
