Track advance stopped working
« on: October 13, 2017, 07:34:32 am »

One of my zones consists of a couple of Chromecast speakers connected to MC via Bubble UPnP. Since the update to .70, MC will no longer advance to the next track in a play queue when I use this zone; I have to forward it manually to continue listening. I've tried restarting MC and Bubble UPnP and I've rebooted the computer but the problem persists. (I have another zone that consists of a direct connection to a DLNA device and that works fine so the problem definitely has to do with the way MC is interfacing with Bubble UPnP.) Note that this problem did not exist before the update to .70. Is there a new setting of some sort that I have to change, or is this a bug?

Thanks for all the work the work you put into MC. Love it.

Try toggling SetNextAVtransport in the settings for the DLNA Server.

Dear Jim & Bob, as you know, this topic comes up 2..3 times per week. My suggestion is that if SetNext support is on, and MC sends a SetNext command, and the renderer responds with anything other than HTTP 200 OK, then toggle SetNext support off automatically (or at least until the next reboot). Just a thought..

Hi

Apologies for this in advance but how/where exactly do I find the SetNextAVTransport setting.  I've looked at all the settings I can find for my DLNA Server under Tools/Options/Media Network and can't find it anywhere?  I'm using MC23.

Thanks in advance

It's in the options for the DLNA Server.  Edit the server you use.

Thanks Jim...still can't find it.  I can see 3 options when I right click on the renderer listed under Playing Now but not the SetNextAVTransport.  I similarly couldn't find it anywhere in the DLNA Server options.  Could you post a screenshot of where it is?

Thanks Again

It is NOT in the server settings..

Right click on the renderer in the MC explorer pane on the top left of MC, then you will see a menu for DLNA settings Enable/Disable SetNext support.

Thanks Andrew

I've tried that setting both on and off with no luck.  Think it's just Bose's crappy implementation of DLNA as it works fine on my Naim speaker.

Try downloading the DMRA tester from my sig, and post the renderer report for the Bose here. It may give some tips about how to set up MC to serve it best.

What issue are you having with it?

Hi Bob

If I have a playlist set up, the first song will play fine on my Bose then stop.  I have to manually advance on the JRiver remote (I use Eos) to get the next track to play.  As I say, I think it's a problem with the Bose and not JRiver as the playlists work fine (ie. advance to and play the next song automatically) on other non-Bose wirelesss speakers but I was just optimistically wondering if JRiver had a software solution to the Bose faulty DLNA implementation

DDJ :)

I only just noticed this post, so sorry for not responding earlier.

The renderer report says (among other things) that the test playback failed due to a SUBSCRIBE error. This means your player does not properly support the notification subscription mechanism for transport status change events.

You should inform the manufacturer about this. And in MC right click on the renderer, DLNA settings, and put a check against Ignore Transport Events.
