Hello All,

I recently switched from ITunes to JRiver Media Center 23.  I installed the trial version and then purchased the license for the 32-bit software and everything worked great.  I tried the 64 bit version, but decided to stick with the 32- bit version. It seems that every several weeks when I click to start the program it extracts the file and re-installs the program. I then have to re-sync my libraries, etc.  Has anyone experienced this problem? I am almost ready to switch back to ITunes. Media Center shows that I am registered when clicking the registration info in the toolbar.

From the description it looks like you're simply running the installer rather than the installed application. Can you triple check this is not the case as what you're seeing isn't normal? If you still have the 32bit version installed and you switch between that and the 64bit app they can 'fight' each other a bit as as you switch between the two the last one run needs to re-set some settings made by the previously run version.

Try setting the application to autostart so you don't have to run it manually and stick with one version for the time being.

In any case restoring a library backup would restore your settings without the need for a re-import. Check out the videos in my footer for info if you're unsure how to do this.

This is normal, it just updates itself once we publish a new version. It should retain any settings and playlists when it does that.

If what Pete is seeing is just the regular updates, then that's is clearly normal  The "I then have to re-sync my libraries, etc" bit threw me. ..  It appears to be a lot of work for Pete to fix after the event.

Pete, if you take a look at some of the videos in my footer they show what should happen on updates/upgrades - it's all pretty much as you'd expect really. You could then maybe describe the differences you are seeing in more detail so we can understand your issue better.

I truly appreciate the assistance.  I was unaware that would happen when the program updates. The most recent time this happened (when I posted) it looks like it kept all of my libraries intact. I spoke a bit too soon.  Problem solved.  Thank you!!!!
