New library
« on: October 24, 2017, 04:58:22 am »

Hi folks. I am trouble creating a new library (it used to be easier). The only 2 options I have

1 - Post a servery address
2 - Local library: Enter a path to an existing library or a location with no files in it

In the past I simply had to choose a folder with files already existing in it. I had 4 or 5 libraries in that way

So the actual question is: How do I create a new library from a folder with files already exisiting in it

Thanks

I'll answer your question with another question. . . . Are you sure you need another library?

Yes, it's possible but you can aslo import additional files, from different drives/folders into your existing library* and edit the views to show the subset media files you wish.

* by 'library' I mean the MC Database of metadata not the media files themselves.

Thanks. I have 1000's of files and i have found sometimes MC crashes with too many files loaded. Separate libraries have been easier for me to manage all the files

MC doesn't really have a limit (e.g. with "too many files loaded" - I have over 90,000 FLAC files loaded in my MC and it works fine). My guess is there's some bad files, which is causing the crashes. Try enabling logging, reproduce a crash then upload a crash log here.
