My JRiver22 MC plays back anything beautifully except high resolution music files.  For example playing back a FLAC 192 kHz file, the audio stutters badly.  Watching the time elapsed playing this track, it will play for a few seconds then jump back a few seconds etc.  You never get a smooth continuous play.  Sometimes you will get a flow of 5 seconds play (great) then it reverts back to the stuttering. No error messages are generated at all.  What can be the problem?

We need to know more details about your setup.

The gaps could be network or CPU related.  MC has no trouble playing those files.

I have Windows10 PC with a NAS Western Digital drive (where the music is stored), with a Trinnov Amethyst DSP as music renderer.  Not sure what more I need to tell you.

Here's the Trinnov Amethyst:

It looks like it has WiFi.  Is that how you're connecting to it?

The NAS drive also uses a network connection.

The way to find the problem is to try other connections.  For example, try transferring a file to your Windows machine and playing it from there.  Or try playing to a directly connected device (any).

I am not using any WiFi connection to the Amethyst ... yes it can do that, but I am smart wired in my home throughout, so it is all ethernet cabled.

ok ... I have discovered that the same files that stutter being played on the Amethyst DONT stutter playing on my PC.  Does this mean that the Amethyst needs to be set to some setting ?

Possibly.  I don't know.  Is it supposed to support those files?

Can you connect to it via USB?  Or any other way.

I have seen this with less than perfect wi fi , but with ethernet that shouldn't be an issue.

Have you Anti Virus activated on the NAS?

If you have the AV will be scanning the files ON & OFF the drive , so as you replay it will AV Scan them and slow things up. Especially if the AV is loaded on the NAS.

I have AV on my PC but all my media drives are in the Exclude list . I make sure they are clean before transfer to the final drive
