Access Key Server - IP address and ports used
« on: December 19, 2017, 02:40:51 am »

I have a multi-WAN setup.

I want to create a firewall rule to force all outbound traffic from my JRiver Media Centre 22 to the Access Key Server to go via a specific WAN interface.

I want to do this so the Access Key contains the correct WAN address when House Band uses the Key to access my Medial Library.

I have read this: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Network_Access

I tried forcing all outbound traffic on port 52199 to go via the specific WAN interface but that did not work.

I suspect that is because outbound traffic to the Access Key Server uses a different port.

I think the easiest thing would be to set up a rule forcing all outbound traffic to the Access Key Server IP address to go via specific WAN interface.

Does anyone know the IP address of the Access Key Server?

Alternatively, what port does JRiver use to communicate with the Access key Server?

If it is a common port, like 80, can it be changed so I can use a rule based on the port used rather than the destination IP address?

Here's a page where you might learn more:

https://jriver.com/webgizmo.html

I believe it uses 80 and I don't think that can be changed, but maybe you can use the server address.

Thank you for the link - that page is very useful for testing the connection.

I suspect you are right about port 80 from the testing I have done.

The most likely solution for me lies in using the IP address of the JRiver Access Key Server to force traffic out via the correct WAN.

I hope someone on this forum will be able to post what that IP address is. I could not see it from the link you posted.

That's just the information I needed - many thanks.

I set up a rule on the router to force all outbound traffic for wr.jriver.com to go out via the designated WAN port.

Now my Access Key consistently reports the correct WAN address and House Band works reliably.
