If I update something on the server PC which is running the library from the client, will those changes (e.g. changing the release date for an album) show up on the client PC?

How, though?  I just tried it, and I also shut down MC and opened it again, but no change...

A MC Client synchronises with its Server automatically on a regular basis, but not always immediately. If you made the change on the server then opened or restarted the Client and didn't see the change in the Client, then you have something set up wrong.You can force a sync using the "Sync Changes with Library Server" button as well.

Did you read the Media Network Wiki article and the articles linked from it at the bottom?

Hey Thanks...'File / Library / Sync Changes with Library Server' does the trick! Any changes I make on the client PC MC are copied to the server MC.

Not quite any changes, but any tag changes, yes.

A search of the forum will find many discussions about what Clients can do, and what they can't. Just be aware of the latter.


BTW, I checked out the "Sync Library" function that you were trying to use previously for your two independent PCs each with their own copy of media on an external drive.

It works, and can be used without creating duplicates. But it can only be used to sync in one direction, or if sync'd in both directions it needs a very rigid definition of the directory structure and file naming, along with expressions to support two directional use. But for a PC to laptop transfer, it works fine, without duplicates. Easy to mess up though and have lots of duplicates created.

Using file sync software would be much easier, though handled a bit differently. But using a Client/Server setup is easier again, if you don't need to take the laptop away when travelling etc.
