Slow interface [Solved]
« on: April 15, 2018, 08:19:05 am »

Hello!

I'm having some trouble with JRiver on the mac version: the interface when scrolling in the library is very very slow (like 100-300ms response time for each scroll).
I didn't have that problem on Windows but I had the same problem with MC 23.
I tried to play with settings and disabling services with no success...

Here are some information if it helps:

Library
    Total files: 12375
    Audio files: 12375
    Image files: 0
    Video files: 0
    Other files: 0

    Audio analyzed: 100% (12375 of 12375)
Background Tools Running
    No tools currently running
Power
    Playback (disable automatic sleep)
Media Center
    Version:

What view are you using? Some views lag/feel slower than others. Also using Retina Mode also makes MC for Mac feel more "slow" and/or "laggy". This is a known thing about MC for Mac that will *hopefully* be addressed someday.

I was using any default views (Artists, files, playlists) but removing retina mode fixed it!
Thank you for your quick answers!  :)

This seemed to be the best place to post a reply to the slow UI issue.  I have seen this complaint for several versions back.  I just upgraded to an iMac Pro 10 core system which is more than enough to be able to scroll reasonably well.  My library only contains 45 albums. I am running OSX 10.14.2

When is this going to be fixed?

Thanks.

I'll add my vote for this behavior to be improved.  The scrolling in Retina mode is distractingly slow.  Not awful.  Not unusable.  Just very noticeably slow and "chunky".  It would be wonderful to have it be more smooth.

Like it or not, the look and feel are very important to many Mac customers.  Not to me nearly as much.  But VERY important to many.  In other words, having this scrolling work better might increase sales by appealing to the "look and feel factor" for many Mac customers.

Thanks,

Brian.

Retina Mode gives MC the "retina" look. You can enable it by going to the View menu > Size > Retina Mode.
