Installing or Restoring a License on Linux
« on: May 21, 2018, 10:57:38 am »

Please follow these instructions:

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License

If you have problems

1) Make sure your computer is connected to the internet and is not blocked for https access to the internet (port 443).

2) Check to see if your computer's time and date are accurate.

3) Try to copy and paste the license code in as opposed to typing it. If you must type it, make sure that you distinguish between the letter O and the number 0 as well as the letter l and the number 1.

4) If you are running on a non-supported (not debian) distro, your certificate store must be correct.

On some machines you can do:
    sudo update-ca-certificates

On others (ie fedora) you may need to link the existing cert file into /etc/ssl/certs:
    cd /etc/ssl/certs
    sudo ln -s /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem ca-certificates.crt

5) If all else fails, you can download the mjr file via https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi (it's good for 2 weeks) and install the license manually, using the Linux terminal (as the USER running MC, and NOT as root or sudo).

Type:

mediacenter24 /RestoreFromFile ~/Downloads/"Media Center24 Linux-YYYYYY.mjr"

(replacing Media Center24 Linux-YYYYYY.mjr" above with your filename and replacing ~/Downloads with your path).

Paid full Master License price, should have WinMC24 upgrade discount
« Reply #1 on: November 06, 2018, 03:35:07 am »

Hi there,

I paid full for the mc24 license for my windows machine.  Now I've bought/installed mc24 master license on my linux system and it's working great.

The problem is I didn't read the instructions carefully and realize I should've received a big discount for upgrading from Win MC24 to Master License MC24.

I'm not sure how I go about getting a refund.

I tried to purchase a Linux license but the form is failing my email address. I'm assuming it's because I'm using a plus address. Please let me know when this is fixed so I can buy a license. Thanks

Still failing with the error message:
There was an error in your submission. Please check the fields in red.
Important: Your e-mail and password will be needed to restore, so please enter a valid e-mail address and a password you can remember.

The email format I am using is : <letters|numbers>+<letters|numbers>@<domain>.<tld>
The password format I am using is a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols

Are there any restrictions ?

Thanks

Have been running Ubuntu 18.04 with MC 24.0.28 for a while. I upgraded from 24.0.19 to 24.0.28, and successfully restored my license after upgrade.

Today, after installing some Ubuntu updates and restarting the computer, I had to restore my MC24 Master License again, but Media Center version did not change - it still shows 24.0.28.

This was a issue in early MC24 build but was fixed in newer MC24 builds. I'd recommend switching from the stable channel to the latest channel and installing 24.0.64. Reason being is the older MC24 builds will lose registration after kernel updates.

Even though it's on the latest channel, 24.0.64 has been pretty stable.

I just updated stable to 24.0.42.
It's the last pre-chromium build and has the fixed licensing code.

Thanks very much guys.

I knew about the registration issue on early Linux builds, but thought it only applied when MC was upgraded and not more generic kernel updates.
Perhaps I didn't read close enuff.

Never mind, it finally took the new license.

I purchased an upgrade which worked fine on Windows MC24 install, but when I tried the linux version it stated that license is for a different version.

Did I miss a install instruction?

Thank you

I just upgraded my Windows license to a master license so I can install JRiver. However the Linux product refuses to install as it claims that the key is for a different product. One problem I do see is that the master license is for JRiver 25 whereas the Linux version is for JRiver 24. When I try the restore license window it gave me a different product error. I don't see any JRiver 25 releases available. Please advise.

Make sure you're using the latest build 24.0.72 or else it won't work.

Do you have MC24 installed?  I've just resent you your licenses.  MC24 is the most recent.

Make sure you are running the last build of MC 24.
Also, if you have Mac Address Randomization turned on in linux, turn it off.

To turn MAC address randomization off, try this for Arch Linux: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NetworkManager#Configuring_MAC_address_randomization
