Second home, how can I set it up?
« on: June 01, 2018, 08:35:34 am »

Here is what I am thinking.

I copy my music folder to an external hard drive. I then take that to the second home.

Is this possible? Is this the right approach?

If so, what is the step by step.

I have MC 23 on 4 laptops now. One is the server/library.

I bought the upgrade to MC 24 long ago but still have not upgraded.

I really need someone to take my hand, step by step.

Are you looking to manage the library from your second home, or just play the files? You can always just stream it from your server over the net if you're just looking to play it.

Just play the files.

How can I accomplish that? That would be pretty cool.

I do wonder about problems that may occur if I do it that way. I won't be able to reboot the program or PC.

The wiki has a topic called Media Network.

You can use MC's Library Server on one machine and connect to it from the other.

You could set it up on two machines at home in order to test it and learn.

Once that works, you can set up your home server to allow access from the Internet.
