New Zealand TV Setup
« on: June 28, 2018, 06:38:59 am »

Hi,

After some assistance setting up DVB-S.

I have a TBS6902 Dual Tuner. Have setup and working in TBS Viewer but no go in Media Center.
I am getting "specified tuner is in use or not available".

On Scan Channel page it says A tv device does not exist.

Show Status has the following. Tried the scan on both tuners.

This lists the status of television devices and recording actions that are queued.  The text will also be placed on the clipboard.

=== Television Devices ===

Device 0: TBS 6902 DVBS/S2 Tuner 0 BBEBE891A7156DBD (digital)
State: Initializing
Channel:
Recording Rule IDs:
Tuner Type: DVB-S

Device 1: TBS 6902 DVBS/S2 Tuner 1 F4635E7B1F1784CB (digital)
State: Idle

=== Actions ===

I suspect it could be something to do with LOF1, LOF2 and LNBSW settings as i had to change these in TBS Viewer to get it to work.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers

Your first tuner seemed to be stuck in something, possibly EGP over-the-air scanning.  The second tuner should be available.

Go to TV Options and click Manage Devices (or right-click "Manage Devices" on the "Television" tree).  Select a device and click Configure.  Make sure it's tuner type is set to DVB-S.

Next run "Load Program Guide...", also accessible on TV Options or Television tree, and check if you have any EPG loading method configured to run every day.  Uncheck "Automatically load the program guide every day in the background", and uncheck "Run selected profiles now" before you click OK.  Restart MC and try TV Setup again.

Also, make sure you are running the latest build of MC.

Thanks Yaobing,

Will give it a try.

Initially I thought it was media server locking it up. Shut it all down and disabled it on startup but still didn't work.

Hope it works.

Both cards seem to be sitting in idle.

Still no go.

Might have to try an MC24 upgrade?

Someone reported a similar issue a couple of months back.  I am not sure which version was used, but he was able to get it going.  I made some changes in version 24 too to help with the situation.

Is the device being used by other applications?  Windows Media Center for example.

Did you get to this page when trying to set up?

So not getting the not available anymore.

Just "failed to build digital preview graph". see attached screenshots

not running windows MC. uninstalled all older versions of MC as thought they might be interrupting it.

Tried an upgrade to MC24.
MC24 goes through the extracting but fails to open the install windows. is XP no longer supported. Works fine on all other systems with newer windows.

Yes, XP is no longer supported.  It may work.  It may not.

That's fine. will look at updating windows.
I hope you don't mean TV on MC23 might or might not work.

Anything else I can do in MC23 to get TV working?
Still think it might be something to do with LOF1, LOF2 and LNBSW settings. I can not find any settings for these. Is it possible to change these settings.
Channel frequency settings look ok for the region.

There is still no way of changing satellite settings in MC.  If it works with other software, it should work in MC.

"Failed to build preview graph" indicates either there is something wrong with the driver, or there is something unknown to MC.

Please turn on logging and then run Setup as far as you can, and capture a set of log files.  You can email the package to me.  yaobing at jriver

Also go to TV Options > Advanced, and click "Copy television related filter info to clipboard" and paste that to the email body.

Yes, thanks for the files.

The failure occurred at two places.  I have not seen these failures for many years.

The first one was failure to load the generic Network Provider filter.  So MC went on with loading the DVBS specific Network Provider filter.  This should be fine.  I saw this behavior in other cases and was why I implemented this backup scheme.

The next failure was the fatal one.  Your "TBS 6902 DVBS/S2 Tuner 0" could not be connected with the DVBS Network Provider filter.

Right now, I would place the blame on your device driver.  You should try re-installing the tuner device driver/software.

Still the same.

I have uninstalled the driver, restarted the machine, installed driver, restarted machine.
I uninstalled TBSViewer to make sure it was not holding the card in use in the background.

Still the same issue.

I have another tv card installed DVB-T (hauppauge), so I will remove that from my system and uninstall the driver/software.
That card did work a few years back but no terrestrial signal in NZ now.

I do not know what else to do as the card works and I watch TV, just not in JRiver.

Yeah, have tried both tuners. tried to deselect DVB-s2.

Have removed the old DVB-T card.

Still the same thing, failed to build preview graph.

I feel a bit stuck, because there seems like is no settings I can change.

OK, so I found an older driver for the tuner card.

Tried to install this and run MC.

Still no change on both tuners.

I have been able to find some IPTV m3u links, but this is not really the solution and does not work like TV does.

Any further assistance please.

It might be worth trying MC24 32 bit.

I have MC24 Licence but I am running XP on my server with the TV card.
Don't have the funds for an upgrade right now.
Can you please help with some config file change, settings or something.
MC23 can detect the card so surely we can do something.

The card works in my computer, with the correct LOF settings.
Are you sure I am unable to adjust LOF settings?

Should it be in "Idle" or should this be changing to some active state after MC has loaded up?

Cheers

We are not using the DiSEqCType parameter.  That is all that we do not do.  If another application has set this right, it should not change, so we should be able to use the device.

Yes it should.  But your device did not pass the initial steps of building a DirectShow graph for TV, it's status just got stuck.  I will check to make sure we reset it to idle after the failure.  If you restart MC and go straight to "Show Status", what do you see?

Can you create a channel manually (you need to find all the parameters of a particular channel) by running Manage Channels, and click Add button and then enter as many values as you can find (Network ID, transport stream ID, etc.).

Once created, try playing the channel.  Send me a log.
