Panel Instructions
« on: July 12, 2018, 01:23:17 am »

Description
Panel is a remote control and remote playback web app.  It's built into JRiver Media Center, so there is nothing to install from the Android or iOS stores.  It runs with any modern browser on any device.  It connects to a web server built into MC.

You can read more about it here:  https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,115638.0.html

Instructions
JRiver Media Center 24 or Media Server must be installed and running.  Media Network must be turned on in MC settings.

You can open Panel from a web browser by entering this URL:

http://[IP_Address]:52199  (changing [IP_Address] to your own IP address)  Example: http://192.168.0.13:52199

For a secure connection, you can use port 52200:

https://[IP_Address]:52200  (changing [IP_Address] to your own IP address)  Example: https://192.168.0.13:52200  (please note that this uses https, not http)

localhost:52199 will do the same thing when the browser is running on the same machine as MC.  It's an easy way to try Panel.

Alternative Way to Start Panel
You can access Panel with the Access Key from your server by browsing to this URL:

https://jriver.com/panel.html

Enter your access key, select your playback location, and click connect.

Running Panel
Use the Settings icon to select your playback destination.  Here is your local device.  Player is the device you've connected to.  This lets you use Panel to play your media on your local phone, tablet, or computer, or on the remote computer that is running MC.

IP Address
To find the IP address of the machine running MC, on Windows run CMD  (Windows Key + R, then type CMD).  Then type ipconfig.

Authentication
Some operations will require that you have authentication (login / password) set on the MC Server.  It's set up in Options > Media Network.  Once you do this, you will be asked to log in when you run Panel the first time.

Home Button
You can use your browser's Home Button setting to launch Panel easily.  It's under the Browser Settings and would just enter the same command you use to connect.  Example: http://192.168.0.13:52199  Once  you've done that, just click on the browser's Home Button to launch Panel.

Hi JimH,
is there anyway to modify the thumbs? Change the colors, sizes or add BG images for instance?

Thanks,
Una

There is a light theme under settings. It isn't customizable.

Will the search function eventually work for all Panel streaming choices ? At present it appears to default over to stored media only, when using RP, JR Radio etc.

Will there be the ability to read lyrics from the tag as there is in JRemote?

Btw, Thank you for what you have done with Panel, it loads images much more quickly now and is much easier to use.

Adding song to playlist
« Reply #5 on: April 07, 2020, 04:52:02 pm »

Just started using Panel for remove on Android device vs. the old Gizmo.  Much faster interface it seems thus far.  I cannot figure out how to add a song that is playing to one of my playlists.  Any help  in that area?  I have looked for a help file on the Panel, but no luck finding it. Thank you.

BTW, using MC26 Linux.

Try press and hold.
When I press and hold, I get a menu with only the following options:
Play File
Play ALL
Play file
Play (with Play Doctor)
Add File (to END)
Add file (play next)
Add all (to end)

Thanks for the help.

Panel can't really edit an existing playlist that way, yet. To do this, you would need to play the playlist you want to add the file to, then add the file to playing now, then save the playing now list as a playlist with the same name. It should overwrite the original playlist then. You might want to test it first by using a new name for the playlist though.

Very good.  What, then, is the best way to add a particular music file to a given playlist?  Via the MC main interface, which for me is via a VNC.

Thanks again.

The instructions in my last post should allow you to add songs to a playlist using Panel. It's some extra work, but it's the only way to do it in Panel, for now.
