Author Topic: Why does playing over DLNA to my Devialet is working so bad? [Solved]  (Read 2126 times)

I have a MC Server connected via 1GB ethernet and a switch to my Devialet.  If I play tracks from the server using the DLNA (The Devialet is a UpNP device) protocol, with high res files > 16 bit, I have always between 10 -20 sec stuttering in the beginning during playback of the track, 192kHz files are stuttering all the time during playback.

I use the DLNA Server Audiophile 24-bit DAC with Mode:Original

I did a lot of test today:

My AV network is the following:

For DLNA Play and For Devialet AIR

MC DLNA SERVER (Windows 10, separate room 36 TB Disk Space)->Switch (Linksys)->                                                                 Ethernet->D220 Pro | DLNA
MC SERVER (Windows 10, separate room 36 TB Disk Space)->Switch (Linksys)->Media Renderer (MC Client, Windows 10)->Ethernet->D220 Pro | AIR

- The switch is not directly connected to a router, it is connected to a WLAN Bridge (AVM 1750E).
- Network topology: Internet->Cable->Cable Router (Old Fritz!Box with WLAN off)->Lan Bridge (AVM 1750E, Home Office)->WLAN Bridge (AVM 1750E, Living Room).

1. I directly connect the router to the switch -> stuttering as before
2. I copied some album's locally to my media renderer (intel m.2 ssd, i3-6100, 8 GB RAM) and use the media renderer as DLNA server; MR->SWITCH->D200 Pro. It's less stuttering but in no way perfect.

Does the MC DLNA Server load the file into memory or how does it work? In the beginning it takes seconds before playback starts. Also the used ethernet bandwith is sometime 24 Mbit/sec! For playing a 24 bit/96 kHz file!

Your Ethernet over Powerline Adaptor is this one:

https://avm.de/produkte/fritzwlan/fritzwlan-repeater-1750e/

Can you find a long enough cable or move some equipment to bypass those devices?  I've seen similar problems with older devices.  It would be a nice test.

Also try playing directly to the Devialet (not UPnP) if possible.

yes

Yes , I have connected a 15m Ethernet cable directly from my Router to my Switch. Result: Not so much cracks in the beginning, but in no way smooth.

Yes, that's work with Devialet AIR, directly playing from the Media Renderer to the Devialet.

So your tests would seem to say that:

1.  The network connection isn't the problem.

2.  The Devialet isn't the problem.

Can you describe the computer you're playing from?  A benchmark might help.  It's under MC's Help menu.

Antivirus?

Antivirus?

I disabled Win 10 Firewall & Antivirus for testing. No Difference.

I added two pictures with my environment:

I did another test:

MC DLNA SERVER (Windows 10, separate room 36 TB Disk Space)->Switch (Linksys)->Ethernet->LG 4K TV | DLNA Renderer ->optical->Devialet D220 Pro.

That works without any problems, even with 24 bit 192kHz! I think it is the Devialet CI Module causing the problems?

I got it working. The D220 Pro has problems with Gigabit Speed and Auto Negotiation.

The Managed Switch settings to set are: Auto Negotiation = Disabled, Port Speed 100 Mb, Flow Control Enabled and all works fine.

Also Devialet AIR works perfect now no AV sync issues - it is simply perfect. I had given up on this for a long time - very happy now  :)
