Tag pasting from excel files
« on: September 03, 2018, 07:19:35 pm »

1. I'm trying to edit the tags for some my SACD rips. Instead of editing individual tags for every track, is there any way to copy and paste all the tracks in a column from an Excel file?
2. Also if I rename the folder of the SACD file, when JRiver repopulates the tags, my edited tags go away completely. Anyway to save them permanently? Thanks.

1. not sure that will be easy ... only way i can think of is writing a script that creates/modifies sidecar .xml

2. that can be solved by using sidecar .xml ... basically jriver generates these for each library entry and populate it with tags (these .xml are located in same folder as media) ... so if you move folder around, MC will read tags of .xml ... also useful if you want to rebuild your library

It might work in MP3Tag. I've done similar things with it (it can certainly cut and paste blocks of tags) but it was a long time ago and I've slept since then  :)
