Encoding
« on: January 23, 2003, 10:56:41 am »

I know, I know... it is a rediculous question, but where can i set the set the Mpeg-quality?? (I would like to set it 192kbps VBR).

But whilst using MJ 9 (beta) I am looking all over, but
can't find it.
Not under 'Tools-Options'.
MJ9 toolbar only shows file/edit/view/player/tools/help.

Thank you.
Brgds.

MP3 = Mpeg Also So If Your Talking About This

You can't set VBR to 192kbps

You can Set CBR to 192kbps (CBR = Constant Bit Rate)

VBR = Variable Bit Rate

If you set A Bit Rate It Would No Longer Be VBR

VBR is better, just set it to "High"

If your talking About MpegPlus I Agree With A Xtreme Setting

In MJ 8 it is under the Encoder button in options. You can also specify command line options as well.

In MC 9 you have to click on the Rip button to change the settings. Once there click on options > encoding and choose your encoder and settings.

Hello, tks for the feedbacks. I am a newbe on this.
Expected the encoding settings to be under 'settings' similar to MJ8.
Meanwhile: practically all cd's that I wish to convert are classical. Am not sure whether to take VBR 'high' or 192kbs CBR.

Another thing is that almost no other CD-Rippers, even mj8 as far as I can see, has a possibility to enter a composer. All CD-rippers have "artist", "title". In the classical world, there 'composer', 'artist' and title.
Noticed that MJ8 has an option to enter 'composer'data
but it looks like this info is not kept in the database, i.e.
I am entering -year- -genre- -artists- -composer-, the first 3 indeed show up, but the composer-column remains blanc, although a composer is added.

Secondly it was striking that the cddb-data was retrieved for the first cd, but not for the 2nd and the 3rd...

When using another cd-ripper, data was indeed retrieved...

Strange...

Any suggestions?
(MJ9 is used)

thanks!

well you can add this as a new field when using MC9 and it is saved to the media file if it uses ID3v2 (like an mp3).
