24.0.68 (12/7/2018)

1. Changed: Added extra ALSA debug logging.
2. Changed: DLNA: explicitly supply the library server (Panel) port with the presentation page URL for our DLNA renderers and servers.
3. Fixed: DLNA when authentication was enabled, the DeviceDescription.xml for Library Server couldn't be loaded on a remote MC. This means that if the server wasn't manually setup on the remote for authentication it might not show up in the server list.

1. Changed: Streamlined the code that finds network interfaces so that they are only used once upon start of the program instead of every time a socket is created.
2. Fixed: Some mp4 or m4a audio with AAC encoding could not be played with JRiver mp4 plug-in.
3. NEW: Tag-writing for MP4/m4a audio files will use Apple's extensible tagging format if the files already contain such tags.
4. Fixed: Locking and unlocking split views didn't properly save the lock between restarts of the program.
5. Changed: Disabled VA-API hardware decoding until dependency issues can be resolved.

1. Fixed: MC could deadlock when loading a large DLNA server library.
2. NEW: Non-standard file associations for various DSD mimetypes added so that we can see those files from DLNA server libraries that are using those mimetypes.
3. Changed: Some DLNA servers (like on the QNAP) don't properly provide the total number of files matches in a search which limited us to seeing the first 1000 files in a library.
4. Changed: All other multi-platform applicable changes from the windows build.

In addition, I observed that after MC was closed (GUI) MC is still active, and can be closed only with the Task Manager.

At first I had thought of that, but it is not like this:
Run on Linux Startup: Nothing
Media Network is not active
It happens when MC chrashed.
Example:
Just now I tried to open a URL ---> MC chrashed because wrong url.
I close the GUI with Cairo-Dock ---> GUI closes but MC keeps running. (image)

To the 7,5 GB log:

I had to read my entire library again, because I had a hard drive crash, the new hard drive has exactly the same mount point In the fstab.
I had only changed the UUID. After I had recovered my files, I had to re-read the entire library (including 2 x thumbnails), because MC could not find any files with the old library anymore.

I rarely look in the ~ / .jriver directory. I only did it because MC did not finish.
It's perverse when MC produces a 37 MB log for one hour of normal operation (web radio / local songs)

The Config\ paths were a bug in a previous version. They were fixed a while ago. They are harmless but you can delete them if you want.

Logging is VERY complete. You should turn it off when running normally or if you are really interested in the logs, set the maximum size under logging options.

Interesting about the MC still being active on GUI crash, will look into that. Can you give me a URL that makes that happen?

You can turn off logging under Help->Logging.

Hmmm, not seeing that on mine. Are you certain it's current and being used?

I suspect it may not be as easy to deal with, especially when a user has all thumbnails already built and removing that directory would require thumbnails to be rebuilt again (which can be a nightmare for a Pi).

It also looks like the Thumbnails folder isn't empty either. In my library 28MB of data is in the Thumbnails folder (versus 294MB of data in the Thumbnails\ folder). I don't suppose all this data can't be merged into the correct directory without having to rebuild the thumbnails?

Yep. I moved both the Thumbnails and Thumbnails\ folders and it recreates just the Thumbnails\ folder and seems to use only that.

On my pi it's the same.
And if I delete it it's recreated without a \

Look in your users settings file at the Thumbnails - Base Path
I bet it's got a \ in it.
The settings are probably from before that was fixed.
