flicker each time subtitle change

I play movies (mkv, avi, mp4) with external .srt files for subtitles (Dutch) on 3 PC's, all windows 10 64 bit.
all MC versions are 24.24.0.72 64 bit two registered versions one trial version.
problem description: when subtitles are shown/refreshed there is a flicker starting from the left bottom.
this problem is not the same on every PC:
my newest laptop has a flicker for every subtitle that is shown on the screen (bottom) reaching for about 1/8 of the screen (MC not registered yet).
the second PC also has the flicker but less frequently and less pronounced (registered version).
the third, my eldest PC has no flicker at all (registered version).

what can be the cause?

Did you try updating video drivers?

checked it now and latest drivers were already installed.
I saw now that I'm not the only one, there is an item on the forum "issues with subtitles" referring to the same problem but nobody gave a solution.
I also did a test using VLC player with the same movies and then the problem does not occur.

I have video flicking … but not subtitle related … if I have program running that requires periodic update of what it displays (i.e. program refreshes its window periodically to update information), then my video will flicker … even if offending program is minimized, video will flicker … closing that program will stop flickering … maybe you have same situation?

ps. unfortunate there is no more true exclusive screen mode in Windows 10

Try using Red October HQ to play videos (in Settings -> Video). You can choose its Performance mode preset, that should make it run even on lower hardware.
