1. NEW: Panel - Added support for saving playlists. When selecting 'Save Playlist' from the additional options menu, it will grab the list in Playing Now for the current zone and save it with the name the user provides.
2. NEW: Panel - Added an option to the settings page to set how the sub-folder count is indicated. Currently defaults to hidden.
3. Changed: Panel - Moved the shuffle and repeat buttons to the additional options menu on the Playing Now page.
4. Fixed: Fixed more cases of crashes with slightly malformed MP4 files.
5. NEW: Added the MCWS function Playlist/Build to take a set of file keys and a playlist path and builds the playlist.

1. Fixed: MC could deadlock when loading a large DLNA server library.
2. NEW: Non-standard file associations for various DSD mimetypes added so that we can see those files from DLNA server libraries that are using those mimetypes.
3. Changed: Some DLNA servers (like on the QNAP) don't properly provide the total number of files matches in a search which limited us to seeing the first 1000 files in a library.

I just tried this with Yosemite on a 2012 mac mini with a ssd.
With activity monitor running, playing back to the built-in audio I can't see what you are seeing. It uses less than 12% cpu.

Can you give more detail?
What DAC are you using?
Have you configured it as the output device in MC or as the default device in System Preferences?
Any DSP settings?
What type of material, bit depth, sample rate, etc.
Other audio apps running at the same time?

My MC24 (now up to .75) crashes immediately whenever I try to do anything other than look at, search, or play my files. For example, clicking on Tag in the Action window always results in an immediate app quit. Report log as attached. I had previously updated my Privacy/Accessibility settings as per the instructions here. Turns out that earlier versions of MC24, and even MC23, which used to run just fine now have the same bug. Using an iMac late 2012 running 10.14.3 (but was happening on earlier versions of 10.14 too). Any suggestions?

No, it's a late 2012 iMac 27" with 2560 x 1440 display. I do use Retina Mode running MC, but inspired by your question, I turned off Retina Mode and still had the same crash problem.

I have the media server running in the task bar because sometimes I need to listen to my music library from my work computer.  My music library is located on an external raid ssd over thunderbolt 3.  I have noticed even though macOs power settings are to put disks to sleep after 10 min the disks never go to sleep and consumes 50 watts of power even over the entire night when the rest of the computer is sleeping.  If this is not a bug please help me understand what option I must enable within JRiver to allow it to sleep still.  No music is playing overnight.

MC is reading/writing to the drive pretty often especially if you have Media Network enabled, I wonder if that is preventing the disk from sleeping?
You might need to have the computer go to sleep if you want to leave MC up as opposed to just the disk

Not sure I understand you.  The computer does go to sleep just not the disk even though the computer is set to put the disks to sleep.  There is no music playing anywhere so not sure why it would need to constantly write to the disk.  Is there a way to turn that behavior off and still have a music server?  Seems unnecessarily wasteful.

If the computer is sleeping I don't see how the disk can not sleep.
Seems like that would mean that either the computer is not sleeping, just blanking the screen OR the disk isn't responding to the sleep command.

Sounds semantic to me.  I'm not sure how macOs actually handles 'sleep' under the hood but when I say the computer is sleeping I mean it shuts the external monitor off and enters a low power state, lower power consumption then when it is 'awake'.  I get a 50 watt pull from the computer and the disk and monitor total when the computer appears asleep but the disk is still awake.  power mgmt is set to sleep the disks 10 minutes after the computer shuts the screen.  if media server isn't running in the task bar it will then drop to 7 watts.  With the monitor on and the laptop 'awake' it reads 80 watts.

Been testing different setups and it appears to essentially block sleep not when the Media Server is running per-say but if any Media Client (could be invisible because the Media Server is not showing it) or a normal dock icon or normal visible Media Center client is in the pause state of a song.  If you hit Stop then it will still sleep even if the server is running.  So it is the paused play that prevents sleep and I don't believe it is blocking sleep of the disk as bob alluded to but possibly blocking the computer itself from going further into sleep then just turning the displays off.  Of course if the computer is blocked from sleep then perhaps the disk is also being blocked which might explain the 50 watts.  Guessing 40 of those is by the disk and another 10 for the laptop itself but that's just a guess.

So the problem here boils down to Media Center not releasing core audio I believe during a music pause.  The open core audio session appears to be what is directly blocking the computer from sleep any deeper than just turning off the display.  Therefore I would like to request that Media Center close it's coreaudio session during pause in the same way it does during a stop thus allowing the computer to sleep properly.  The media keys only have play/pause button not stop so having to remember some obscure hotkey to stop the music doesn't seem realistic for the average user and without that no one who uses Media Center via the media keys computer is ever really put to sleep.  That's a huge and silent waste across most likely the majority of Media Center users systems.

I've paid for the next upgrade.  I've paid for the last 6 or so upgrades.  Please would you consider this one feature/fix request to tear down your core audio session not only on stop but also on pause.  If that seems too heavy for whatever reason maybe even an audio option for 'release audio session during pause' or 'stop audio after X minutes of pause' or 'allow computer to sleep during pause' or something like that?

This would easily save me a good 1000 watt hours every day ($5 a month) from my electric bill for the time i'm either sleeping or away from the computer at work or not listening to music but still need the server to be available.

Pause really is just that it doesn't close the audio device. Perhaps an option there would be useful or a timeout on the pause that when reached closes the device.
There are several good reasons why the device shouldn't be closed on a pause, amongst them audible clicking for some devices when the device is stopped and restarted

We have a "Stop after long pause" option for Video, to avoid burn-in when its accidentally left that way too long, maybe that option should just be available for Audio as well.

Hendrik, that really sounds like the right approach.  The only difference I guess is there is a logical difference to pause vs stop as well meaning pause will continue playing what was in playing now where stop will start something completely new depending on the play options etc.  I think keeping the logical behavior of pause intact (ie pressing play will then just open core audio back up and continue where it left off) but having it release core audio after some optioned timeout makes the most sense.  I do also think presenting the option to the user in a way that explains the purpose (allow the system to sleep) is a good idea as well otherwise I wouldn't really understand what's the purpose.  If I was being told 'allow computer to sleep after long pause' I might be ok accepting a slight pop sound when enabled.  I do think it makes sense to just have one option perhaps for both video and audio like this.

... oh and another thing I noticed during this discovery is Media Center doesn't support AppleScript which would be a really nice feature if possible for at least a few basic functions like play/pause/stop/mute/unmute/trackNext/trackPrev/shuffle/isPlaying/isPaused/isStopped, etc.  This would let people do pretty clever app integration features like automatically muting music while accepting skype calls or watching safari web videos etc.

The crashes happen no matter what the most recent file played is or which external drive it is on. The external drives (mostly single disks, there is one software RAID) are formatted as HFS+ (journaled). I will email you the most recent file being played during the most recent crash. The most recent log is attached here.

Please try testing with only local files.  External drives can sometimes have problems.  Power is one issue.

No help after playing, or trying to tag, a local file. The file imports and plays fine. But trying to tag it causes the same immediate crash.

Drag and drop of a folder containing audio files into MC works only when fetching the files' parent folder. If that folder is a subfolder of another folder, dropping the parent folder into MC does nothing. Is that intended behavior?
