Sat>IP issue in MC25
« on: March 20, 2019, 03:23:09 pm »

Great day all, V25 looking good.

Did some testing onto my Server and 3 machines setup.
Sat>iP does gives me some problems.
Can't skip channels, setup is identical as most recent V24 which did worked perfectly.
MC freezes the image when channel skipping, that's all it does.

Same onto the server as onto any client
No recordings or such running.

Back to V24.0.75 and OK.

Yaobing, any suggestion what or where to check things ?
Sat>iP is my only TV source, i can't check others for you I'm afraid.

What tuner are you using?  It may require changes to your firewall.

I have not made many changes related to Sat>IP tuners.

Do you use Red October standard or HQ?  If it is latter, check if there are any changes in madVR.

Hi Yaobing,

Thanks for your feedback,

Firewall: checked and OK.

Still using the OctoNet Sat>iP by Digital Devices.
Working perfect since V24.

Checked and tried Red October.

Is the way how the channels are been 'registered', by using NIT instead of manual details like the frequency etc, changed or updated into V25 in some way ?

I've now noticed i can skip channels IF they're using the same transponder only.
Between transponders there isn't any 'lock' possible it seems from further testing ?

I'm confident we'll find the issue and get it working into V25 aswell :-)

Channel scanning using NIT is implemented for DVB-S and DVB-C only.  Not yet for Sat>IP.

Please turn on logging and capture a log file for me.

Hi Yaobing, logfile has been mailed to you.

On some channels i'm getting some parts of the program.
Like 2 seconds content, then no lock.

Not able to skip to another channel.
I've got to push stop and select another channel.

I'm jumping after tests back to the latest V24, same settings, works perfectly.

Fyi, i did an upgrade "in place" when installing V25.
Which instantly took over my existing settings. Everything came along, except the network key from the Library Server.
Manually copied the Lib key and voila.

Thanks for your feedback,

I did notice a little odd thing, but I am not sure.  Please download this file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ukmas6zo4l6ep3/JRTelevision.zip?dl=0

Unzip, and copy to MC25 installation folder.

Hi Yaobing, thanks.
Testing as we speak.
Till now it seems the updated .dll does the trick.
Keep fingers crossed.
I'll keep you posted sir.

Cheers.

Ps it looks the DNLA polling is faster in V25 aswell ?
Possible or just my feeling ?

Cheers.

I did promise some testing, i did,

Yesterday evening one client couldn't get any lock onto a TV station. The others could.
A reboot of both the MC Server as this specific client couldn't solve the issue.

The DD Sat>iP is discovered by MC on both the Server as the client(s), as it shows up some 5 seconds after MC starts.
But when selecting a TV channel the no signal lock is showed.

yes MC25 is listed under the firewall exceptions and all all other features do work.

Then i launched my previous .exe within the MC24 folder and everything works.
After some channel-skipping i switched back to MC25, incl the updated .dll, and also here working perfectly.

Yaobing, this is what I've got at the moment, I'll do some more testing in hoping i can find some pattern.
But something seems to be off in MC25 - on the useage of Sat>iP.

Cheers.

Can you test the following DLL for channel scanning using NIT?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4t5qam58uucwqdz/JRTelevision.zip?dl=0

This is implemented for DVB-S channels carried over Sat>IP.

Thanks.

Hi Yaobing,

Installed the new DLL.
Did a new setup onto the Sat>iP devices.

What to look for ?
The scan doesn't seem different to me as before.
Did a rescan as well, to be sure of the outcome.
Scan went Thur and gave me the same channels as with the 'old' DLL (without NIT scan?)

Let me know if i can look for something specific.

Cheers.

Did you ever test the following a year ago?

Quote
24.0.7 (3/16/2018)

2. NEW: Sat>IP TV channels can be scanned from transport stream (we no longer need to rely on Sat>IP server to provide channel list m3u file).  For "dvbs/s2" modulation system only at this stage.

When scanning for channels, do not choose "ServerProvidedChannelList", nor "CustomChannelList".  Instead choose "DVB-S" for Modulation System.

Once you made this choice, we should be able to scan for channels using the actual transport stream, instead of relying on Sat>IP server for providing a channel list.

With the new DLL I posted, you then should be able to choose whether to use the static frequency list or to use Network Information Table.

OK, I can see both options, but only NIT possible as selection, static is grayed-out.

Then the list drop-down selection is empty, so manual input of freq.
But once OK button is pressed a crash happens.
MC needs restarting and then the profile is empty, no channels found/added.

Fyi the Belgian package of channels is completely moved to S2 (23.5°) with the exception of 5 not-so-usefull channels.

Then the list drop-down selection is empty, so manual input of freq.

This means the static list was empty.  You would have selected a file from a list of them.  In particular, this one:

"23.5°E Astra 3A,3B   Thor 2.xml"

It probably is outdated, but the file contains a large number of frequencies.  If the file was successfully loaded, the drop-down list would not be empty.

Here is the steps that should have happened:

After you selecting "DVB-S", instead of "Server Provided Channel list", you would be asked to select a satellite.  You should select "23.5°E Astra 3A,3B   Thor 2".  After that you will be asked to select whether to use static list of NIT.

Please send me a log capturing all of the above, up until it crashes.  Thanks.

Hi Yaobing,

Thanks, i'll think this static list is the issue.
I am selecting the right 19.2° list, but the .XML isn't loaded.
And so the option stays greyed-out.

It stays empty, could this be the reason why the NIT scan isn't succesfull/crashing MC ?

There appear to be two separate bugs then.

XML file not loading should not cause the crash since you can manually enter needed data.

New log send to your mailbox, Yaobing,

Thanks.

Got the file, but it contains no channel scan activities.  If a crash was involved, you should send "Previous Log.txt" instead of "Log.txt", or just send both.

Hi Yaobing,

To my opinion because we don't come to a scan.
I've mailed you a printscreen of the window:
-Scanning... please wait.
-You can see the selection screen opens and the static is greyed out even the 19.2 list has been selected.
-Only option to manually input a frequency, a validone for 19.2 is entered.
-When pushing the done button = should be the start of the scan > MC closes/crashes.

Yes i did noticed the log don't mention this activity aswell.

Yaobing let me know what i can test or search for.

Thanks.

By "scan activity" I meant anything that is related to channel scanning.  That includes the dialog box that you captured on the screenshot you sent me.  If you saw that dialog box (with "Use static frequency table (legacy mode)" disabled), you would have seen the following line in the log file:

xxxxxxx: yyyy: TV: ScanSatIPDVBSChannels::DoSatIPScanLoop: Start

where xxxxxxx: yyyy are some numbers.  Since the log file you sent me does not contain any such text, I am sure you sent the wrong file.

Please read the following wiki article on logging: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging

Great day Yaobing,

Thanks, installed the new DLL:

1/ Yes the issue on the loading of the static XML seems solved :-)
MC doesn't seem to crash any longer.

2/ I've made several scans, using the complete static list.
As also per several defined transponders as well.
The scanning process is visible and depending on the list selected some 60 to 80 channels are scanned.
But no channels were found at the end.

3/ I tried updating some of the Belgian (TV Vlaanderen/Canal Digital) transponder details in the XML listing, but still no luck on showing channels at the end of the scan.

4/ I've checked the tuner status of the OctoNET Sat>IP server.
It shows during scanning each time a positive lock and +90% signal per chosen channel.

I'll send you the logfile in a couple of minutes aswell, hoping you'll notice something inside.

Thanks on keeping me posted,

Hi Yaobing,

Thanks sir, I've tried the updated DLL.

No luck so far, the list of results stays empty.

During the scanning i can see the Sat>IP server does locks on each tuned channel.
But no channels found, tried manually inputting some transponder details.
Used verificated details from p.e. the King of sat listings.

Any clue ?

Thanks Yaobing,

Cheers.

Great day Yaobing,

Thanks but still no success.

But at least no more crash :-)

Tuned failed shows after every attempt to manually input the details.
When using the static transponder details, from the mentioned 69 known channels, it comes back with 69 times the same frequency.
Further no possibility to continue, next nore back button isn't active, channel can be selected but no more.
Only pushing cancel is a possibility.

I did checked the Sat>iP server and it locks on every channel scanned.
So there's signal and the transponder is the correct one.

Also tried your updated .DLL as with and without the MC25.31 version.

Let me know if i can test something further.

PS meanwhile I'm still using the channel listing as published by the Sat>iP server.
Which i need to update a couple of times a year as Canal Digital (TV Vlaanderen) does swap frequencies and transponders from time to time. There cleaning up the Astra 19.2 satellite in order for HD via Astra 23.5

Thanks man,

New 64-bit DLL for you to test.

I made some more tweaks.

If you have time to test, please install MC25.0.33 first, then download and copy the above DLL.  If you do not have time now, you can also wait for build 34 or later version to come out.

Hi Yaobing, i did made some futher testing.
Using .34, .38 and today .40

i cant get the manual NIT scanning done.
But positive as when using native scanning the TFA channels are positively been found.
MC crashes at the end of the scan, but once restarted the channels are inside the channel list.

I'm guessing due the nature of the Digital Devices OctoNet Sat>iP server, which does support CA/CAM to encrypt the boutique these channels aren't found ?

I've noticed the CI must be addressed from within the request to the Sat>iP Server.

Thanks for your help,
