Hi,

I use JRiver solely for music and have upgraded each time a new version has been released (have done so 4 or 5 times now). I love the program but cannot understand why it seems to be the only application I've ever encountered that doesn't respond to Windows' snap assist commands (e.g., hitting the WIN key + the left or right arrows will snap the current program to the left or right sides of the screen).

Am I missing an option somewhere? It's pretty frustrating and I'm not sure I'd upgrade again if this isn't something that's possible with JRiver.

I have lots of programs that are not slaves to Window commands. I'd say you missed something somewhere. See ya!

Considering MC uses its own system for window drawing and whatnot, it not supporting Snap doesn't surprise me. Adobe Photoshop is another app which uses its own system for window drawing which doesn't work with Windows Snap either. On the other hand, Steam does work with Snap.

Your best chance for getting this is likely finding a SDK/API/code example(s) explaining how to add Snap support for an application, so JRiver can at least consider it.

zontog, I miss this feature as well, I use keyboard shortcuts all the time and it annoys me as well that MC doesn't support them.

Although MC does not currently honour the Win+L, Win+R keyboard combos...

did you know that you can click and hold at the top of the program (not maximised) and drag the MC window to the left or the right, and when the mouse hits the right or left edge of the screen, MC will snap, just like Win+L or Win+R.

It also appears that Win + up maximizes, and Win + down restores or minimizes, so it appears that left and right might be the only 2 missing.  Although it is a bit weird...if you manually snap it in to the right or left (by dragging the title bar), then up and down also no longer function, and you can't restore by grabbing the title bar like you can a normal application.

Yes, I did know that but it's a bit complicated by my multi-monitor set up so I effectively can't do that on one side of my monitor without it shooting off into the next one. Also, what's convenient about Windows snap is I can easily snap/size an app into a corner of my screen (e.g., WIN + left + up)--I've got quite a large monitor so I like having 4 quadrants open from time to time for work purposes.

I actually purchased DisplayFusion the other day for unrelated purposes. I'll play around there are see what I can come up with--although I really would love to use JRiver "natively" in this regard. Thanks for the suggestion!

Standard window behavior on the various OS' supported by MC would be great.  It's horrific on macOS.

These videos are pretty good.
I've been using DisplayFusion for years, and highly recommend it. Buying the Steam version when it goes on sale is best, as it is the cheapest version and has the least restrictive license.

I have an ultrawide monitor and typically split it so that there is a square window in the center (1440x1440) along with 2-4 windows on either side.



Alternatively, I will split it so that Media Center is playing a video at 1920px wide on one side, and a browser or other windows are on the other side of the display.

It is just that it doesn't play very nice with quite a few applications, so displayfusion is not the best alternative.
