When I change the audio output in Options, either JRiver freezes and I have to restart MC or it says "unsupported" on my DAC and I have to start MC and then everything plays,  This happens when switching from DSD to regular formats or vice versa.  Definitely a bug with JRiver.  Restarting always fixes it.  And why should I have to change back and forth from DSD to say 24/96 format anyway.  It should just be able to recognize what format is trying to be played.  I'd be interested in what JRiver has to say, since there is no support phone number or email address to contact someone at JRiver support.

Do you have DSD bitstreaming enabled? Having that should switch from DSD to PCM just fine. If you're using output format opens in DSP Studio, disable them all and leave PCM as PCM and DSD as DSD.

If I choose in DSP Studio: DSD in DoP format, it blanks out the Sample Rates and my DAC will only play DSD files, along with an occasional restart of JR because it freezes when it is changed.  Can you spell out specifically what needs to be done to play both formats without having to switch for DSD or Sample rate formats?  And you point out one other post by me.  I didn’t know there was a limit and replies aren’t being forwarded to my email.

In DSP Studio first set Output Encoding to None then UNCHECK Output Format and MC won't convert everything to DSD anymore.

All you have to do is enable DSD bitstreaming (and make sure system/MC's volume is set to 100%).
