What happened to Media Center versions 1 - 8?
« on: January 19, 2003, 06:32:28 pm »

Originally MJ8 was planned to progress to MJ9.  Then it was decided to split the product into Media Jukebox and Media Center.  At that time, shouldn't Media Center have been renamed to version 1?  Since there are no previous versions of MC, how does it get to start off at version 9?

You're right about me not seeing them, Mark.  If I were a betting man, I'd wager that you never saw them either.

So, JRiver crew, (JimH) when Media Center makes its debut, shouldn't it be version 1.0?

No big deal, really.  It just irritates my nit-picky side; same as the auto makers now coming out with the new 2004 models in January 2003.  It just appears to be a wee bit deceptive.

So, Media Center 2003 would be OK?

Hey, I think "Media Center 2003" sounds great!

What will you call the patches and sub releases that come out before the end of the year?

"Media Center 2003" just won't do because I'm opposed to the Gregorian calendar and our christian-centric year assignment.

We must respect all religions by numbering years on a secular basis (preferably to some identifiably unique astronomical event).

Having MC perpetuate the existing dogma just won't do. :-/

I think the beginning of the calendar is based on the first appearance of a new star.  That should qualify as "some identifiably unique astronomical event".
