J River’s argument against supporting a streaming service has always been that they think the providers won’t survive. That may well now be true, but as Amazon is likely to survive I wonder whether J River will seize the opportunity?

JRiver, please.  Not J River.

It makes no mention of an API for developers, so I don't see how we'd be able to support it, but we'll watch for more news.

Here's a good article at The Verge:

I'm guessing that this spells the end for Tidal unless they're able to be acquired soon.  Amazon probably looked at buying Tidal and then decided to build it, as Amazon tends to do.

I wish they'd offer lossless downloads, as that's what I'd really be interested in.

The article at Engadget mentioned downloads.  They may be "protected" though.

That's what the studios said about Cinavia back in 2010.  Apple's DRM fell too in a much shorter time-frame.  As soon as someone creates an encryption or validation system, another person figures out a way around it.  Although in this case I'd probably support it since I probably wouldn't own a copy of the music being streamed and I do own a copy of the Blu ray I'm ripping.  I do feel the Artist, Recording Studio and Label are entitled to a profit from their labor

I know you're not on the Tidal bandwagon, or Qobuz... but with this - If MC can handle the new Amazon service en-suite, holy smokes that would be amazeballs.  Tidal would be/is dead.  And MQA likely along with it!

Don't think Amazon provides an API for developers to use...
