quirk with editing soloists in MC 25.0.104
« on: September 26, 2019, 02:35:32 pm »

When I am editing soloists and I pull up the text editor, any editions are not saved after pressing <OK> in the editor and <Return> in the tag field. Only if I de-select and re-select an  entry from the list after pressing <OK> in the editor and before pressing <Return> in the tag field are the changes saved. Is this intended? If not, it would be great to have this ironed out sometime in a future release.

Nobody but me has seen this?

Are you using 25.0.113?  It's on the Download Page.

This is on 24.0.104 and 25.0.108. I can't see 24.0.113 yet... (I'm on MacOS)
many thanks,

I can't really follow your description of the behavior you are seeing.  But that's OK.  I don't use the soloists field at all, so I would have trouble testing your scenario anyway.

But, what might make this easier for people to track down, is to identify the last version of MC for Mac which did NOT show this problem.

I usually keep a few extra versions of MC laying around.  I think I have almost all of the MC25 tree in my downloads directory.  You might reinstall a few versions and test with those older versions.  If you can ID the last version that worked, the developers might be able to find where the bug was introduced.

Thanks Brian!
I can't be sure when it was different the last time. I would say one or two versions before 25.0.104.

Maybe I can explain a bit more what happens:
When you click on the soloists tag field a list opens from where you can select individual entries (from all soloists you have entered before) that will be "checked" (there is a check box on the left of each entry in the list) when clicked. There is also an "add" field on the bottom of the list that lets you add more entries. The changes "stick" when you press <Enter>.
In addition to that, there is also the option to edit entries using a text editor which you can get when you first click on the soloists field and then right-click anywhere on the list and select "Edit All with Text Editor..." from the pop-up contextual menu. This helps a lot when you have many to enter or if you want to re-order them.
In order to get these entries from the text editor to "stick" you used to have to click "OK" on the bottom of the Editor which brings you back to the open list in the tag field and then press <Enter> to make the changed list "stick".
Now, however, this doesn't make the changes stick anymore. You now have to de-select one or more "checked" entries from the top of the list, then select them again and press <Enter> which makes the changes "stick".
Hope this makes it a bit clearer.
