You can now order a JRiver Media Center 26 upgrade license at a discount

Early builds of JRiver Media Center 26 are now available on the Download Page. These will improve on MC25, and MC26 will continue to improve throughout the year.

Upgrade Prices

You can use a license from any previous version of JRiver Media Center, even Media Jukebox 8.0, to upgrade.

The discounted price to upgrade for Windows, Mac or Linux is $26.98. A Master License upgrade for all three OS's is $36.98.

INSTRUCTIONS
To direct you, we need to check a few things.

1. Have you ever purchased MC?
If not, there is no upgrade price. Sorry. Here's how to download and purchase a license.

2. Do you have your Registration Code for your older version?
If not, you can email it to yourself by using option #2 on the Restore Page.

Now you're ready to purchase, but we need to know what OS you have and what license you want.

3. Are you planning to use more than one OS?
If so, you will need a Master License, which works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can purchase from the Help menu of a current version or you can go here:

Problems
Is your license not accepted when you upgrade?
Make sure you're on the right upgrade page.
Use copy and paste. 0 (zero) and O (letter) look alike. So do 1 (number one) and l or I (letters).

Don't have your license? Visit the Restore Page and use option #2 to email yourself your license(s).

Restore your license

Restoring a backup of your library. MC makes them automatically. You can use your OS to search for zip files to find them. MC can restore a backup from MC20 and above.

You purchased after October 1, so you have an MC26 license that will work with both MC25 and MC26.

Just purchased the MC 26 Windows upgrade, received the upgrade link (Media Center26 Windows-473343) and when I try to install on my existing copy of MC 25 (windows), it gives me an error message that "your license file is for a different product". I tried resetting the licence for the existing MC 25 (0.98), and saw that the new MC 25/26 license shows up in the window, without my having to input the license manually, but if I then hit "return" I get the same error message - "Your license file is for a different product". MC 25 still shows me as the licensee in the Registration Info Window after the license update error message.

Please advise.

You need to be using MC 25.0.113 for the MC26 license to work with it.

I Just bought the MC26 master upgrade and restored the license for MC25.0.113. But is there a way to see if my registration in fact are for the 26, looking at "Help - Registration info..." all I see is that I have a registered master license and my MC version is 25.0.113?

Found the answer "If you purchased a new license or an upgrade license after October 1, you received an MC26 license."

Thanks - I think the requirement to upgrade from the latest MC 25 version would be useful information to add to the instructions.

Has there been any thought about offering an annual subscription? I'd rather you just take my money once a year than deal with making sure I catch the "best deal" timeframe for the next version and updating my keys, etc. Make it easier for me to give you money!

Since #23, when WMA support suddenly disappeared, I find that I don't use this software much anymore. Regardless of how windows native encoding has been deprecated, I have had to use other software to convert MP3's to WMA because the hardware I play them on can't read the MP3's natively (the podcast author tweaked some setting that has broken this for years). Is there WMA encoding in this version?

We've never done a lifetime subscription. I'm skeptical of whether it's financially viable. We have a skilled team of people and they continue to have a need to eat.

I'm asking for an auto-renewing annual plan, not a pay once lifetime plan. Essentially what you have today, just without making me do something every year.

Edit: As a bonus, if you had an auto-renewing plan, you would eliminate all this "But I just paid and you want me to pay again?!" angst.

BuggySP - you can use the one licence to install MC on a number of computers which are owned by you with no poblem, you don't need a separate licence for each machine.

It does seem a lot quicker than normal (in fact, I haven't had a chance to install MC25 yet...), but the discounted upgrade price is their recognition of loyal customers. I do like the idea of an annual subscription model that another poster suggested (not to be confused with a lifetime license, which really isn't a good long term business model).

I decided to upgrade to a Master License in order to support you guys a bit more... and maybe I'll buy one of those nifty Mac Pro laptops next year, so there's that.

I just purchased only "one" Windows upgrade license, but I received two confirmation emails of exactly the same time stamp containing two different Registration Codes. I wonder if you have charged twice to my VISA Card, or not. If needed, please let me know your specific email address for further contact on this issue.

Your reference #s are 474221.mjr and 474222.mjr; you would please check them and please confirm by email to me that you charged only one purchase to my VISA card. Thanks a lot in advance.

You can use one license on all "your" machines, within reason.

Every time I upgrade my licence I lose all my display/view settings and it takes ages to reconfigure my screen. Is there any way to buy an MC26 licence without losing settings? Otherwise I may pass.

I am trying to purchase an upgrade but on clicking 'Continue' after putting in my credit card details, I get the error "Please check with your card issuer (error 34398)". My card issuer says there should be no problem, I'm not sure who to contact to solve this problem.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Make sure the right box is checked for Mastercard or Visa. Also verify the CVV code.

You could switch to PayPal if you don't have luck with direct purchasing.

Have been onto the card issuer again, they insist they have received no attempt from you to my credit card. It has failed when selecting VISA and also PayPay. I have also just made two other purchases on my card which have gone through OK.

You could tell them our credit card purchases are working well. Only a few problems.

Same problem here re: error "Please check with your card issuer (error 34398)". This is for the Mac upgrade to MC26 from MC25. I've tried two different credit cards and my PayPal account (here in the U.S.), all with the same error. I've also used my credit card and my PayPal account for other vendor purchases earlier today with no problems.

Please re-read the first post. 25.0.113 is on the Download Page. 25.0.50 isn't the Stable build. You could also read this if you want to understand the Update Channels:

The first post does not mention version numbers. The stable version, at least as held in your linux repo is 25.0.50. So apparently the stable build for Windows is not the stable build for linux, linux stable lags behind, and to use a new MC26 key on linux one needs to be on the lastest or beta channel.

MC26 isn't out yet, but the MC26 license will work in MC25.

Just a friendly suggestion: Long time satisfied user here of MediaCenter here, regularly receiving the upgrade emails which are full of offers and instructions but not much on "What's new". I searched the site for What's New and landed on a page that applies to v11.
There's a bit in the last email headed 'I'm Happy with My Old Version' which is fairly true for me. The link under "Here are all of the changes up through MC25" is a detailed release history of mostly fixes and changes. New items do exist here too but don't stand out and also give the impression that they were introduced *during* the release while features that were new *with* the release aren't shown at the beginning.
An easy to find summary of What's New for each major release might help shift some more copies.
