JRemote2 is Now on the Play Store for $4.98
« on: November 25, 2019, 06:36:29 pm »

Hendrik spent the last six months re-writing JRemote for Android.  It's on the Play Store now and it's half price for a while.  $4.98.

We'll begin a more formal beta thread on this soon.  Early feedback looks good.

There's a thread here:

Will jremote be updated (and fix the video freezing about 10 minutes into play)?

Read Hendrik's reply here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,117670.msg853041.html#msg853041

Plus this topic is for JRemote2 for Android, and not for JRemote for iOS.

Just bought it and have retained Version 1 for now.  A few things:

In Version 1 the physical volume toggle switch on the device controls the volume on MC, but on version 2 it does not.  It just does the usual Android volume controls.  This was one of the best things about the Android version over the iOS version IMO. Using the screen slider is cumbersome and the volume adjustment is jumpy unless you have a surgeon's precision, whereas it is smooth on version 1 using the physical switch. Could you please reinstate it?

Also "App follows Zones" in version 1 was broken, but seems to work fine in version 2.  Thanks.

Another:  Tapping certain cover art brings up the track list of the album, but tapping others does not until you scroll about a bit and try a few times.  Then tapping all cover art seems to work after that.

And there was no discount for already having Version 1.

Discounts for original JRemote owners isn't possible to Play Store policies. Since it's half price right now ($4.98) I say that suffices as a discount, because the price will eventually go back to normal (double what it is right now).

I agree. Adjusting volume with the slider is a hassle, and very jumpy if you have zombie fingers. I much prefer the usual Android volume controls.

The volume control also tends to wipe sideways and show the playlist

Yes volume slider can swipe the screen left and you have to be very precise to get it to do anything useful.  Phone volume switch was so good.

About the randomly non-responsive thumbnails. Happens often but inconsistently, but refreshing the screen (by backing out and coming back in - not by pressing the refresh button) seems to get the non-responsive ones responsive again.  The first version of JRemote for Android doesn't have this odd behaviour.  Know its an early release. Just hoping to be helpful.

I get an error message that it can not connect to server even though I am using the same access key that works fine with Gizmo. Any ideas?
