Only the standalone SoX resampler is used, so there's nothing to customize there.
Both standalone SoX and libsox have a smorgasbord of configurable options: http://sox.sourceforge.net/sox.pdf

Also, it would be great (read: why isn't this already there) if there was a proper pre-amp, i.e., one which took effect prior to resampling.

From what I recall (and this has been awhile), I think JRiver said they don't plan on adding configuration options for the SoX resampler.

EDIT: Here we go, it says here they don't plan to add configuration options for the SoX resampler: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,105946.msg736952.html#msg736952

Matias,
You made your point many times in that thread and then asked for others from another forum to support you.  We answered several times.  Please try to understand (and respect) our position.  We're not going to work on Sox.

Ringing with these filters is only an issue when you send an invalid (aliased) signal.
Linear phase is the way audio should be processed.

If you want a non-linear phase response, that should be handled in the playback device (this is your DAC, not the media player).

RD - There are successful software media players that implement many filters and many users appreciate that.  It is much easier to update a filter in a software package than in a hardware DAC. So, implementing filters other than non-linear phase ones makes sense in a software player.

This is not the place to have this discussion once again. I just want to point out that other media players do implement multiple filters.  JRiver has elected not to go that route and that is their prerogative.

Don't worry, I already gave up. I just sent that link for saying "been there, done that" to the other users. Peace.
