JRiver Remote
« on: February 04, 2020, 04:32:18 pm »

Hello to all,

Just a few minutes ago I purchased and installed the JRemote to use in conjunction with my MacBook pro. Everything went alright with the installation and I followed the instructions to set it all up and get my Key access code but then.... Although the remote was able to find the computer I noticed the following:

Response Received
FOUND 2 addresses

shouldn't just be one ? or is one the actual computer and the other the JR Media Center ?

BOTH gave the same result TIMED OUT

obviously I cannot use the remote this way...

Anyone can help out with this ?

Thank you !!

Alex

It might help if you uploaded a log from after you try to connect. You can turn on logging in the Help/Logging menu.

This might help explain the reason for two addresses.  It also has possible solutions.

Thank's Jim !!!

I ended up restarting both (computer and app) and that seemed to have fixed the issue. Now I have to figure out how to prevent the screen from going dark (on laptop) and not responding to the remote after that... I thought the remote would "wake" the computer up to continue playing ... maybe is on the Power savings setting...

At any rate.. THANK YOU !! for your quick response !!!

I have . no idea what the remote is. I am lucky to have two MB Pros so I use one to control the one with the music and MC26 on it. The amount of times I asked Apple about remotes and they never once thought to tell me about screen share. I found it for myself. However, before I found screen share, being disabled, it meant I rarely was able to listen to more than 1 cd because I could not keep getting up to change it. Now I just do it from my laptop.

I assume your remote is a much cheaper option!

I’m getting the same problem using the JRemote app.

I’m getting the found two addresses error and timing out. it worked perfectly before now I installed a new operating system High Sierra and the remote won’t work.

how do i find the ip address to try that option.

Firewall on the Mac?  It's not called a firewall, I believe.  Accessibility?

system preferences > security & privacy > firewall

That should let you see if the firewall is on and temporarily turn it off to test.
