Two Windows 10 PCs - Library problem
« on: February 09, 2020, 04:52:54 pm »

I have two Windows 10 PCs 64-bit both running MC26.

One PC holds the physical music files and the other is linked using the Add Library option and using the Access Key from the PC holding the files.

Up until today, everything was beautifully linked so I could see and play my music files on the newer PC just as I had done for the past few weeks as well as in older versions of MediaCenter.

However, today after starting MC26 in PC #1, I clicked on MC26 in PC #2 and there were no files showing. No library was linked.

So I went to File>Library>Library Manager and put in the Access Key. But the PCs failed to link - the message appeared 'Add Library (Not Responding) Please ensure that your network connection is available and the server is running properly'.

I have tried at least 10 times now and no luck. I have uninstalled MC 26 from PC #2 and re-installed it as well as re-booting PC #2, but still nothing.

Nothing has changed in the set-up of the two machines since yesterday.  No new drivers or software installed, no Windows Upgrades done.

I am at a loss as to how to proceed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try rebooting both, but a firewall problem is possible.

A firewall problem seems likely.  It could be on either machine.

Okay, I stopped Firewall on Norton on both machines and tried again. Made no difference. Same message from MC26.

sorry for entering this thread but maybe you can help my with my problem decribed in the linked thread, which was never solved and still exists in MC26 and your setup seems to be similiar to mine. What I do not know is if you are using a tablet with JRemote for that?

can you confirm this problem maybe with a back-cover in an album folder?

I had the same problem. But this was due a windows update. It was nat only MC - I was also not able to connect network drives between two W10 PC's.
After some reboots, it disappears, but I don't know why.

I have this problem for minimum two years, so I think there were > 500 reboots in the meantime ;-)
cover saved as folder.jpg in the same folder will be shown correct, also pdf files. Only other jpgs have this problem via JRemote on an iPad or iPhone. See attached two screenshots from my iPad Air2 what I get for the backcover clicking assets.
"good" - JRemote connected to main library on PC 1
"bad" - JRemote connected to PC2 with loaded library from PC 1

both latest Win 1o version, latest JRiver version and latest JRemote on the iPad.

You can't get assets from the machine connected to another via library server. They are read directly off of the machine you connect to.
So the lower res cover art you are seeing is the one in the file tag.

Ok, but not clear why it must be handled in this way. I can show a 30 MB pdf without any problem but I cannot show a 0,5 MB picture in full resolution. Why can I see coverart in full resolution?

It's just a limitation of the system. You are one extra step removed from where the assets actually are located.
