MC DLNA library crash on UPnP search via 3rd party appps
« on: February 14, 2020, 04:46:19 am »

hi
im experiencing irregular  crashes of my MC programme.

setup is 26.0.22 but this has been happening for c12 months on my previously very stable v23 instances and was a significant reason for upgrading.
im running windows 10 on a stable release profile (not using fast ring etc) and the machine usually runs 24.7 , with the usual caveats for installs and updates.

the MC library is published as a DLNA library to my network and my most usual use case is

1) local technics renderer connected by ethernet, also Chromecast devices on the network)
2) MC as media server
3) Android device running various controller apps (Bubbleunpnp. technics music)

every so often, the query of my library via any one of these apps will error and when i check the PC , i find MC has crashed.
MC windows programme works fine as a controller, with audio routing to a DLNA renderer on my network. the JRiver Android apps work reliably too, but as they do not support Chromecast, or Qobuz, my default and preference is Bubble.

any suggestions that might stabilise the setup from forum would be much appreciated.

ta

Please turn on logging (the wiki has a topic).  Next time it happens, it would be nice to see the previouslog.txt.

It's possible a file is missing or corrupt.  MC shouldn't crash, of course.

What search query are you making?

I had similar problems until I set up BubbleUPnP Server on the MC machine, and published MC as an OpenHome Renderer in Bubble Server.

It would be really nice to get a crash dump from this.
You should get one if logging is turned on when it crashes and you do "Report Problem" in help->logging.

i guess i was describing an action in Bubble such as opening an  album from within the library tab andi was assuming that some select command would have been involved at that moment. But that is an assumption.

thanks for that info. at present MC is not even connected to a speaker so not sure that will help. i use Chromecast and DLNA streamers. however, that will change when i complete multi room where i think a ID solution is on the cards. so this is a useful insight.
