I am running MC 9.0.155, however the same problem occurred with the previous build. I have already tried the uninstall/reinstall routine in an attempt to correct this.
When I download and try install any interface plug-in, it doesn't appear anywhere (including the Plug-in Manager). Basically, MC9 refuses to install plug-ins for me.
The two plug-ins in particular that I have tried are the "Sleep Timer" and the "Chart And Lyrics Finder":
http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/downloads/mcplugins.pl?type=10Here's what else I have tried: I opened the MJP files (linked to in the "Download for MC v.9" URL on the plug-in download page) in a text editor. Inside the MJP files was a link to a ZIP archive. I pasted the ZIP URLs in my browser, to download them directly. Inside the ZIP for the "Sleep Timer" plugin was a DLL; the ZIP for the "Chart And Lyrics Finder" plugin had a setup EXE file.
For the "Sleep Timer" plugin, when trying to import the DLL file manually using the Plug-in Manager, MC9 reported an "Unsupported plugin type". Strange.
For the "Chart And Lyrics Finder", I manualy ran the setup file. And unlike when downloading the MJP file itself, when I manually invoked the setup file, it worked. When I closed and relaunched MC9, the "Chart And Lyrics Finder" appeared under the previously-absent Plug-ins tree item.
So, I'm at a loss here. Why are some plug-ins throwing errors, while others don't even have their installers initiated?
Any advice? Is it just me? Why won't plug-ins install automatically, or, in some cases, at all?
An interesting twist on the "Chart And Lyrics Finder" plug-in: Seconds after posting the message above, the plug-in somehow captured the text of the post and used it for the lyrics for some of the songs I had in "Playing Now"! You understood correctly: Some of my songs have lyrics that say "I Am Running Mc 9.0.155..." :-/
