Car Radio Requests:

1) Auto Update: Make Car Radio playlist/smartlist auto update when original lists are changed. Currently, if I assign "Playlist 1" to a Car Radio button, but then later add files to the original Playlist 1, they are not also updated in the Car Radio button. Same seems to be true for changes to Smartlist rules.

2) Add To: Ability to right click on a Car Radio button and choose "ADD to Playing Now". Currently it only "REPLACES Playing Now". In fact it would be nice to have all the "More Play Options" available for Car Radio.

Matt, also consider it's hard to see under +-2db adjustments on the pink noise generator. I'm really guessing on the Q when I adjust a frequency by ear, and often hopping to other software to see how theoretical implementation would manifest.

I really like Tiles view, however it lacks a lot of the customizability of the other views.

Things I wish I could do in Tiles view:

• Option to control the thumbnail/overall size of individual tiles in tiles

You can't do it with MC.  MC can't decode Atmos.

When I sync with my Android device, I would like to remove any special characters (á, ä, ö, ü, ç, ñ, ß, ...) from filenames and/or pathnames. Android (the latest Version 10) does not recognize songs in playlists (!) that include such characters! Thus the songs are never displayed in/played from playlists, even when the songs were copied to the device and are actually included in the playlist! I changed to other playlist formats (UTF-8, etc.), but none of them works properly with Android.

I tried to find an expression that replaces all kinds of special characters in filenames and pathnames in JRiver, but such expression does not exist.
I also tried to replace such characters one by one using the search-and-replace function for path/filenames in JRiver, but the replacement does unwanted things: It replaces all "a" by "ae" when I actually wanted to replace just the "ä" through "ae". The result was a mess!

I would be very happy, if you realized at least an easy way to sync files to external devices without special characters, so that playlists fully work on Android devices! This also requires that special characters are not included in the automatically generated paths (e. g. [ARTIST] - [ALBUM]). Their source is often the metadata of the songs/mp3 files. I want to keep the special characters in the metadata of the songs.

I find the current Rating system for tracks limited! It can be improved however in my opinion with two additions:
 - Allow for "half star" ratings effectively doubling the range and,
 - Allow for rating at the album level, not only track

Ideally, I would love to have a connection to say Allmusic.com rating for my albums, it that too difficult to do?

I have a PC in my living room where the JRiver Media server resides that are connected to a 4k projector and a 4k computer screen.
In my bedroom I have another PC with JRiver acting as a client connected to a 2k screen.

Since the resolutions are different for the two computers the file info panel that looks good on the 4k screen is to large on the 2k screen.
(Yes, I know I can adjust the size to a smaller size but that makes everything smaller and it becomes difficult to read the text on the 2k screen.)

Please make a solution for a different file info panel for a client JRiver.
And still have auto sync on between the server and the client.

Summary:  Allows you to share content with others outside your local network.

Currently if I want to share content for Family/Friends, I have to take a "copy" and upload it to some service (in my case Nextcloud) and then from that service send a "public link" so others can play it.  As lots of us now have good upload speed (and will only get better), it now makes sense to just share directly from MC.  MC already has all of the plumbing in place but just not the ability to create and share a link to a particular item (or group of items). 

I'd suggest the ability to
- select an item --> Right Click --> Generate Public Link (that is then stored in Clipboard and written to a new Library Field)
- users you "revoke" access by simply removing the link in the library field or by Right Click --> Unshare

Sonos support from JRemote: not via DLNA or Airplay, but leveraging Sonos' APIs similar to how Spotify is doing it.
Sonos is my only frequently used sound system in the house (not all supporting Airplay), and because of the limited integration, I barely listen to my local music anymore: making MC a lesser used tool.

The big one for me, something I have been asking for for five years now, the ability to change the sort order in theater view on the fly.  From a previous request thread:

I want to be able to change the sorting in Theater View.  As an example, lets say I am in the mood to watch a Comedy.  I navigate to my view which shows all my genres, I then choose Comedy.  All my Comedy movies are displayed in their default sorting, which is alphabetical.  Now lets say I want to watch something that's recent, or something that I know that imported into my library recently, or by length, or whatever criteria.  I'd like there to be a "Sort" option in the top roller and then customizable sorting options below that.  I have done a mock up in Photoshop to show how what I envision.



I'd really like to see this idea realized.  It seemed like you all were on board with the idea, but then it fizzled.

And lastly, pretty please bring back video backgrounds.  It's a loss of functionality that's been gone for several years now that I dearly miss.

Seconding the request for  Amiga MOD/Tracker music support.  I know a few of us have asked about this in the past but not sure we ever got an answer.  BASS Audio Library can handle those files and can be licensed for what appears to be relatively cheap one time fees per development site/platform, with no royalties.   Might be worth talking to them.  https://www.un4seen.com/bass.html#license

you can already do that though LF resolution/accuracy is not that great (attempt was made in MC22 time to improve this, reverted in MC23)

We've got the basic structure of that built.  It's what Cloudplay uses now.  You can upload playlists to our server at Amazon S3, then play them anywhere.

  2. Rackmount DAC [ASIO] to Large speakers
  3. Computer output [Direct Sound]
If no external DACs are connected, default to "Direct Sound" (computer jack output).

You need MC to play them.  You don't have to run a server.

2. Support the LRC lyrics format. You'll kill at least two birds with one stone:

a) You'll have synchronized lyrics as a brilliant new feature.
b) You won't have to rely so much on external websites and erratic lyrics auto-recognition. The users can adjust and keep their own lyrics as they please, as plain text files. Users can also build a common JRiver synchronized lyrics database for all to share and enjoy.

I'd like to see either a new field, or enhancement to the Compression field for Video.  Specifically, I would like to know if a video has Atmos or DTS-X encoding, whether J River can play it back correctly or not.  Also, I would like to know more about the video compression.  It's good you identify HEVC, but it would also be nice to see what level of compression is being used (i.e. 8 bit, 10 bit or even 12 bit). And it would be nice to know from a summary POV if there are multiple audio streams associated with the file.

You need MC to play them.  You don't have to run a server.

So, you always need a computer with MC installed and running. If you are on the train, in a car, at your office computer or in front your TV and whant to manage or listen to your playlists, in addition to the app in the device, there must be a computer on with MC running. That's what I'd like to avoid. I'd rather just log in to MC web or device App, not depending on MC installed in my PC.

Add an option to export playlist as an album.

Specially when sending to an external device, so all the tracks will be copied /exported to the same external folder. No matter if the individual tracks where already in the destiny in their original album folder or not.

That option should also allow to optionally enter a new "Genre" tag and to change the album tag in the exported files to match the playlist name. Obviously the library versions of tracks/tags would remain untouched.

Like creating and exporting a "Virtual Album" on-the-fly

Can JRiver please give consideration to enhancing Theater View to include a NEW search feature.  The present search facility is IMHO outdated and in need of a complete rework.  By way of example, in addition to News, Gadgets etc, how about a Search function that can search for words within a film title or actors if selected.  I appreciate that to some extent this functionality exists but it is so so old and is not at all intuitive.

Root Library items: Option for graphic icons instead of letters

Background: with more content managed by MC, the right navigation bar containing the root items (Audio, Images, Videos, ...) is growing longer. Even more so as one can add own root items to collect content of different media types of the same category. I, for example, added 'Mindfulness', which includes books, audio books, videos all related to this 'category'.

I am a visual person, and would love to show icons instead of the spelled-out categories (or a combination of both). Icons could be provided by MC, and/or uploaded by the user.

Back to TVDB - With TVDB I had 2 missing descriptions (German) out of 3000 videos. Now out of the 100 new episodes in the last months I have 50 empty descriptions. If I would redo Get Movie & TV on my 3000 videos it would be ~1000 (rough estimate).
