aspire nas problem/solved
« on: August 07, 2020, 09:58:47 am »

I have a problem with my nas/mc. It takes a long time to load and to buffer before the music plays. Sometimes it skips.
I dont know where to look. Maybe you guys can help.

Could be antivirus or bandwidth or time it takes for the disks to spin up.

What kind of files are you playing?

Hi, mostly flac, hi-res dsddd. A short time ago, it just worked fine. Maybe you are just right. Its an older nas.
I will look into that, but i tried windows mediaplayer. It worked just fine for 1 day. Then the same problem.
Thanks JimH. Great program though, mc!

DSD could bump up against the bandwidth available.  Try copying one to the local drive and playing from there.

It plays ok on my other hdd. No problems. Think my nas has problems or it is just to old. To bad, many many good memories.
Thanks again.

I have 250 mb/sec internet, computer is on the cable, no wifi. The modem can handle 500 mb/sec, so i dont know.
Nas is wired also, into the modem and network. The nas has windows home server software, works ok in windows 10 pro.
Maybe the software on the nas?

You may need to configure Windows Defender.  There is a thread on it here.

After many problems to play music from my nas, i posted sooner about buffering/loading. I got some good advice from jimh.
Tried everything to get the nas going under my windows 10 pro software. At some point i had it with this nas and his windows home server software. It would not work. I had lost my passwords to go in my twonky server software. I took the battery out
from the mainboard of nas. Put it again together and plugged it in, logged into the twonky account and the passwords were
gone. I checked all the right boxes i guess. Logged out and started jriver. Everything works again, i hope it stays this way.

Thanks for your advice jimh, you are great.
