JRemote 3.33 and MC 26.0.98 don't connect [Solved]
« on: August 19, 2020, 03:33:41 pm »

On both ipad and iphone JRemote does not connect. This occurred recently, I assume 3.33 was installed just before the problem occurred but I can't be certain. There have been no other changes to the system. The OS is w10 Version 1909 (Bld 18363.10.16)

Since JRemote provides no error information I don't know what to try.

Is there a way to put the previous version of JRemote on the iOS devices?

Regards,

Milt

Can you connect to the server with anything else?  Your server may be blocked by a firewall.

Try re-entering the Access Key.  Double check for typos.

I need to be more specific. I can connect with any computer to the host that runs the MC code. I have only an iPad and an iPhone that connect, using the access key. I have checked that and it is fine. I also removed JRemote from the iPad and installed it again, with the same result.

I checked the access code in the MC code to be sure i

FIXED.

Not obvious but it now works. The trick was to add MC26 to the inbound Rules section of the "Windows Firewall". Both MC 24 and MC 25 were enabled but, while MC 26 was in the list of processes, it was not enabled.

Steps:
1. Control Panel
2. Windows Defender Firewall
3. Advanced Settings
4. Select "Inbound Rules"
5. Locate "Media Center 26"
There are two entries, one for UDP and other other for TCP. I enabled both although I imagine only the TCP is required. Once this was done, JRemote connects immediately.
