→ "Display pane" at the bottom left of the screen → Double click → Maximize screen.
→ After that, double click to return to the original size.
 ――――――――――――――――――――――――――
▲ However, in the case of MC25, when you double-click this same "display" at the bottom left, the screen is not maximized, the screen size remains medium, and the screen size is displayed large in that range.
Also, double-click to return to the original screen state.
★ Note: This is more comfortable. I like this reaction.
→ When you want to maximize the screen, it is convenient to click the maximize button in the upper right corner.

★ Please be aware that the phenomenon (D) has not been completely solved just by setting it to "None".

The behavior of MC26 is consistent with wiki https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Detached_Display

To make a Detached Display fullscreen:

> Double-click on it

So what you experiencing is normal.

It is irrelevant how MC25 behaved before - it is changed now in MC26. There is no point in discussing which behavior you prefer, I have no power to change it.

You can either:
1. do not double-click Display pane in order to change size of MC window. Instead use controls on top-right corner of MC windows to do so.

2. if you want to control Display pane size - detach it ... press CTR+6 ... then resize it independently from MC window

3. Request what you prefer to be implemented in MC27 (as it is unlikely any request regarding MC26 will happen)

So to me ... your original description of (D):
→ Phenomenon (D): (I noticed today) If you click another video file on the middle screen, the screen will be maximized without permission.

is solved by setting  setting Options > General > Behaviour > Jump on play (video) to NONE

If you agree, we can move on to other problems (I really do not want to leave unsolved things behind as it complicates debugging)

  Thank you, Mr. tij
★ The current mechanism of MC26 is that way. (Changed from MC25).
If it's different from MC25, I can't do anything more.
→ I didn't know this change (improvement?).
★ Looking at "https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Detached_Display", I understood a little.
★ I tried "Detached Display" only for a little bit.
→ I can also do this. (I can freely change the size and position on the independent screen)
→ This is interesting. However, I also wanted the MC25 to retain its comfortable specifications.

▲ I agree with the resolution of phenomenon (D).
▲ Please solve the remaining phenomenon problem. (Also in MC27)
★ Thank you for your polite support and explanation.
→ I hope MC27 will be more comfortable without such problems.

I cannot solve (B) and (C) as it seems it is actually a bug. I made a separate thread on it (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,126876.0.html) to separate the problem from long discussion here.

Matt from JRiver is investigating it. So chances are good he will able to fix it.

PS. Please do not add anything new to that thread ... keep it short - so developers can easily track what's going on

PSS. meanwhile ... i will look into (A) ... I have to be able to replicate your problem on my PC, before I can do anything ... and so far I cannot do it :( ... but will keep trying

  Thank you, Mr. tij

1: My version of Windows 10 is Windows10 Home, 1903, OSbuild: 18362.1082.

2: It is difficult to understand how to proceed in the future.
(1) I don't understand how to use the following words.
→ "topic", "thread", "subject"

(2): (For phenomenon (A)) Future post exchanges will continue with support posts from tij and others on this topic (thread?).
Does that mean?

(3): (For phenomena (B) and (C)) Matt and others are investigating, and if I post in the future, can I do it in the "Video playback in Display question"?
→ Or I don't write new posts here, or keep posts as short as possible. Does that mean? .. (Your PS is hard to understand))

★ I thank tij for creating the new Topic above.
→ I saw the contents a little, but
"Got curious and tried MC27, same behavior.
I moved back to MC23, my last purchased version. No problems.
26 was money down the drain for me and I won't be buying future versions until this is fixed. "
It is written. (Caffsx)
→ It seems that the current MC27 has not been fixed yet.
→ I hope it will be resolved in a future revision of MC27.

▲ I'm sorry, but please tell me what I can do and what I shouldn't do in the future.
→ I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by posting a long post to you, thank you for everything.

Dont worry about (B) and (C) ... JRiver aware of this now and looking into it

For (A) ... can you try following

(1) go to where MC is installed
(2) there should be MC.exe and Media Center 26.exe
(3) for each of them - right click on it to go to Properties ->Compatibility->Change High DPI Settings ... there tick Override high DPI Scaling behavior ... and for "Scaling performed by" choose "Application" (see screen shot attached)

Dont forget to do this for both MC.exe and Media Center 26.exe

Run the program and see if (A) still happens.

PS. this is NOT a solution ... I just want to see if any Windows DPI settings you have affects problem (A)

about (A) does it only happen at the beginning (when you start program)?

What does make (A) go away? Does resizing or maximizing MC window or moving MC window make (A) go away?

And if (A) go away ... and you start using MC normally - does (A) come back during your use?

▼: The appearance of (A) is irregular.
1: (A) often appears first. (Sometimes it appears on the normal screen)
2: Once stretched to the middle screen, it remains as it is.
3: After resizing the screen, moving it, maximizing it, etc. → Close the screen → Restart → (A) may appear, or the normal screen may appear.
4: Even if it starts normally, it becomes (A) when it is closed and then restarted.
5: After changing the option settings, it is often the first time to start normally. (When restarted, it becomes (A))

▲ It is unstable.

It is highly unusual for things to happen this random. There might be some program you running that causes this.

If you close all other programs, does MC start as (A)? What programs are running in your tray (bottom-right corner of screen ... usually stuff like antivirus runs in tray)

 Thank you, Mr. tij

■ This time, I have a nice report.

1: (State until yesterday)
Normally, other programs were not running at the same time.
(A) occurred just by moving MC26.

2: I read and thought about Mr. tij's point. Because it says weird programs may be hidden.
→ Looking at the program on my taskbar, there is nothing strange about it.

→ Next, I checked the startup program.
★ Among them, there was a program called "Wondershare Studio" that I didn't remember.
→ When I searched for this, I found that it was "a program made in China that does a lot of bad things".
→ For example, it is written as follows. "Wondershare Player, a Chinese media player, seems to have a part called" Wondershare Application Framework Service "remaining even after uninstalling. What's more, it seems to be something like spyware that collects information on the PC. ".

★ When I looked at the "Programs and Features" of my control panel, I found this, so I immediately uninstalled it. (I don't remember putting it in)

★ And after rebooting, when I start MC26,
Phenomenon (A) does not appear. Start up on the normal screen.
→ But, (A) may come out again. Because it is unstable.
→ So I tried various behaviors of MC26.
→ There is no strange movement on the medium screen. However, phenomena (B) and (C) still occur.

▲ I tried to start MC26 after restarting and shutting down about 3 times.
→ (A) does not appear. It appears on the normal screen.

◆ I don't know if it was caused only by "Wondershare Studio",
◆ With this, (A) seems to have been fixed.
→ However, the wreckage of "Wondershare Studio" may remain in my PC.
→ For the time being, keep watching. I will decide.
▲ I will post when (A) appears again.

I'm not sure if it's completely fixed, but I'll report it.
→ What remains are phenomena (B) and (C). This will come out. Even now.

Thank you very much, Mr. tij.

That's too bad. The previous report will be cancelled.
◆ Phenomenon (A) has appeared again.

→ I don't understand what caused it.
★ I will try a little more.
★ I'm sorry, please continue to support me.
Thank you

B and C cannot be solved by us ... Matt from JRiver hopefully will release version of MC that will fix it

regarding that bad program you found and uninstalled ... check again ... bad programs have a way to install themselves back

if you find that bad program is still there ... uninstalling it again likely wont work

■ There are good reports and bad reports.

1: Good report
★ Removed "Wondershare" related debris left on my PC.
→ Only "Wondershare Studio" uninstall
Then it seems that it was not fixed
→ When I searched the C: drive with "Wondershare", about 10 files and folders remained.
→ Deleted one by one. (The program "DVD Memory" was also a "Wondershare" product)
→ After rebooting after deleting, MC26 was restarted, but the phenomenon (A) disappeared.
▲ I rebooted several times and checked, but (A) did not appear. (For now)

2: Bad report
★ (If (D) is resolved) If you click on one of the video files on the middle screen, you should just be in another video file state on that screen.
→ However, the screen jumps to the small (A) state in the upper left corner.
(A new phenomenon (E) has appeared)

★ After this, after changing the tool-> option-> start-up-> "save location" from "start" to "last location",
→ I closed MC26 → restarted it, and it was fixed.
→ After that, I returned to "Start", but (E) does not occur. ?? ??
→ I'm not sure yet, but now it starts up on the normal screen.

★ I still don't know if the cause is only related to "Wondershare".
▲ Currently, this is the situation, so I'll see what happens in the next few days.
→ I will keep an eye on whether (A) and (E) appear unstable.

▲ I will look at the situation after that and report again.

That's all for now.

Check carefully for this Wondershare ... look in your Task Manager

These type of malware can hide themselves very well ... and in some instances able to reinstall themselves

Check for other potential malware ... sometimes "free" or "trial" software install several malwares with them

I remember having malware that was able to install itself on other computers on same network ... cleaning that was a nightmare

Do a Google search on how to remove it.  Be careful who you trust.  Some malware leads you to "removal" tools that are even worse.

  Thank you tij and JimH

■ Deleted the mysterious "Program" from the task manager, and the subsequent behavior
(After that, phenomenon (A) and new phenomenon (E) still occur frequently?)

1: Carefully deleted the "Program" that was created by the task manager.
→ First, I will deal with the registry, so I did "Create System Restore Point" and "Back up the Registry".
→ The location of the mysterious "Program" was found by displaying the "command line" of the task manager.
→ It was also found that this is in the C: drive and is related to "wondershare".
→ However, it is not displayed in that place. (It seems to be cleverly hidden)

★ I found a way to delete this by searching.

→ Carefully deleted this.
▲ After rebooting, check the task manager → "Program" has disappeared.
→ However, the phenomenon of MC26 (A) appears again.

2: I also tried disabling the remaining programs on the start-up tabs of other task managers one by one.
→ Eventually, all were invalidated, but (A) and (E) appear.
→ On the right side of the taskbar, I can no longer see the disabled ones, but I can see Kaspersky, Radeon, Bluetooth, Skype, IME, etc.
(But I don't think these are the causes?)

▲ I think. The cause may not be the start-up program.

★ At this point, phenomenon (A) and new phenomenon (E) began to occur frequently.
→ Yesterday's condition is still better.
→ MC26's tool → Option → I tried changing the start-up status in various ways, but it didn't work.
→ I rebooted several times and re-enabled the remaining programs on the task manager's start-up tab.

▲ The current state is MC26's tool-> option-> start-up state.
The mode is "standard display" and the storage location is "last location".
→ In this state, the phenomenon (E) has finally decreased.
→ Phenomenon (A) still appears from time to time.

★ As it is, I will take a look at the situation for a while.
★ What should I do in the future? Please tell me.

that's all.

sorry ... i forgot this was already discussed ... i also recall you have a laptop with the same problem.

The only thing i can think of now ... is clean Window install (without anything extra including AntiVirus ... and without modifying system DPI and fonts)  ... then clean MC install ... to see if the problem persist

If you have spare HDD ... this can be done without affecting your current setup.

I know its a loooong process ... but i really running out of ideas at the moment.

★ Do you mean to clean install Windows 10?
→ However, if I do this on my PC, I know that all the environment will disappear and it will be new.
(I've done a clean install only once before, but it's hard. I don't want to do it.)
(I think this is a last resort)
▼ There are some problems.
→ Currently, I would like to keep MC25 and 24, which have no problem. What it will be?
→ I don't have a spare HDD.
→ The Windows 10 system is on SSD, not HDD.
→ There is an external HDD. (Used for the current backup)
(Sometimes, I back up the standard functions of Windows 10 to this)

◎ And above all, if my environment disappears, I think it will not be possible to investigate the cause of this phenomenon.
→ Still, do tij and JRiver allow this?

★ What I don't understand is the fact that the same phenomenon occurred when the MC26 was installed on a completely different personal PC.
(Also, it seems that it could be the same as this)

▲ I think there is something to be done before that.
1: System restore
→ The trial version of MC26 was installed on August 3rd.
→ The restoration point left before this is July 15th.
★ However, at this point, there is an example of "wondershare". So it seems that the same thing will be repeated again.
(Here, even if you delete "wondershare", it seems that the environment will be the same as today.)

2: What happens if MC26 is uninstalled and then re-installed in today's environment?
(What is different from before is that there is no "wondershare" ?? state)

3: Is there anything? Please tell me.

« Reply #74 on: September 21, 2020, 10:32:56 am »

this is only a suggestion (as a test,) to see what happens by lowering the display resolution to 1920x1080. i think it has been suggested before but it if you haven't yet.

do this:
1. Change resolution to 1920x1080 within your radeon driver settings.
1a. Also, make certain there is no active scaling being done within these settings.
2. In Windows Display settings, set the scaling to 100%
and...
2a. the "Make Text Larger" is set to 100%.
2b. check resolution is the same as driver's 1920x1080

3. In MC set view>size> to 100%
3a. set font size in options to default size (japanese size = ?)

restart PC.

-open MC and stretch window to preferred size.
-open couple of other application/explorer windows (anything)
-try cascading the windows from the taskbar (right click), also try tiling and 'side by side'
- close the windows and leave the MC window open.
- close MC
-start MC to see if it opens at the last position and size.

by lowering resolution it may verify there is something odd with the interaction of your 4K display, driver and Windows.

i suggested this, because the only way i can get the MC window as small as yours, and smaller, is by altering these settings. after making the window the smallest size possible by dragging the corner (it has a stop limit,) changing these settings, you can drag window even smaller, beyond the previous stop limit, by dragging the corner again. other odd phenomenon with MC window sizes and positions were present. text being too big... window positions being off screen...
(this is with a 4K tv used as a monitor at 1920x1080 and changing to 4k resolution)

note, however, i have not experience your continuing phenomenon A. i also do not think this is a MC issue.

if your window continues to open small in the upper left position, this is a guess but, maybe there is a value written within the registry to open MC at this size and position.
maybe the value got written by a desktop utility used in the past (or malware) that can open program windows in a selected size position? this might explain the phenomenon appearing on the laptop..?

perhaps the same or similar desktop utility with this feature can correct the size/position -but i can not recommend one. -i also can not help with the registry.

you mentioned you could not find the link to the older Radeon drivers on the AMD site. the link is there under small text "previous drivers"

https://www.amd.com/en/support/previous-drivers/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-rx-500-series/radeon-rx-580

Only a fyi:
-my windows version is 2004 build (19041.508) x64
-windows update KB4571756 caused random 'crash to desktop' of MC with access violation of avcodec-lav* dll. Uninstalling the update fixed it. after reinstalling update KB4571756 the violation has not occurred.

-i am using an old version of nvidia driver 446.14 with an older version of hdaudio driver from 442.74. i do this because this hdaudio driver is the only one i know of that allows my receiver to properly (auto) change between hdmi and analog inputs without manual intervention. this is the  best/stable combination for my pc. (latest driver is 456.38). my point is the newest driver may not always be best -use what works.

i hope you find a fix. my suggestion is to stick with the help you are receiving from tij and JimH. i am not trying to provide a solution of any sort, but at best, maybe a spark to an idea that will help.

   Thank you B4Unyu

★ (In Windows display settings), I changed the resolution from 3840 x 2160 to 1920 x 1080. (→ A worse phenomenon appeared)
★ (in radeon driver settings), I don't know how to make it 1920x1080, so I haven't done it.
(GPU scaling remains off (disabled). When enabled, the characters "5K" appear?)

************************
▼ I don't even know what I've tried so far, so
▼ Sort by item of what I have tried so far

1: Display driver related
 (1) I installed an old video driver.
  ④ Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.3.4-March23
  ⑤ Win10-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-2020-Edition-20.2.1-Feb3 (currently this)
 (2) Since I don't play games, the above settings are simple. (I'm not sure about the settings and method?)
→ Graphics setting is "standard", display scaling is off (invalid)

2: Suspicious program related
 (1) Uninstall of "Wondershare Studio"
 (2) Deleted "Wondershare" related debris
★ C: drive and D: drive "wondershare" related files were all deleted.
★ and also deleted from the trash box.
 (3) Delete the "Program" that was created by the task manager.
★ I also tried disabling all the remaining programs on the start-up tabs of other task managers.
(Currently, as attached below. Please tell me if there is something that seems to be related to the phenomenon)

3: Antivirus related
 (1) I uninstalled Kaspersky.
→ I moved MC26 without Kaspersky, but it was the same as before.
  ★ Windows Defender was disabled.
 (2) I checked the contents of Kaspersky.
→ In "Application Management", MC24, MC25, MC26 are all "permitted" (trusted) for starting and limiting JRiver.
★ Currently using "Kaspersky Internet Security 20.0"

4: Windows 10 related
 (1) Change the size of characters and the overall size from "Easy operation" of Windows 10.
 (2) I tried various ways to turn off and on "window snap" that appears in the search for "windows10 window size is not remembered".
★ Another Japanese phenomenon disappeared when Windows 10 2040 was used.
However, when checking with the latest IME → "Use the previous version of Microsoft IME", the phenomenon reoccurs. "

★ My current version is Windows10 Home, 1903, OSbuild: 18362.1082

5: PC environment related
 (1) I tried it on my other PC (SONY VAIO SVE1713AJ). Does the same phenomenon occur? ?? ??
 (2) I changed the monitor to another old monitor.
 (3) I changed the cable from DisplayPort to HDMI.
 (4) The mouse was replaced. (Same for another USB mouse and PS / 2 mouse)
 (5) View of folder option,
→ Explorer → View → Folder option → Display tab → □ Display the previous folder window at logon
 (6) I tried to reduce the font size.
 (7) I changed the resolution from 3840 x 2160 to 1920 x 1080. (A worse phenomenon came out)
★ My IME ver is "ver 10.0.18362.1 (updated on March 19, 2019)"

6: MC26 related
 (1) MC26 was uninstalled and then reinstalled.
 (2) Restore was executed again
 (3) Updated MC26ver from 26.0.98 to 26.0.103 (currently 26.0.107)
 (4) Click the installation key (.mjr file) → Small window of "License has been installed"
 (5) I tried to restore the library by selecting the Zip file at the end of the Library Backups of MC25, which has no problem.
 (6) I changed the language status and changed the skin.
 (7) Option> General> Operation> Playback operation (video) is set to "NONE".
 (8) I tried changing the state of the tool-> option-> start-up in various ways.
★ In the current state, the mode is "standard display" and the save location is "last location".
(→ When closing the MC, a screen appears that seems to memorize the position and size for a moment?)
(★ However, the rise will appear in the last playlist screen state ??) ("JRiver characters" will not appear?)

 (9) C: MC26.exe and Media Center 26.exe properties → Compatibility → Change high DPI setting
 (10) I compared in detail whether there is a difference in the option settings of MC25 and MC26. → Same?
★ There is a menu that has been added, but I'm not sure? ..
★ Is the explanation of "help" old?
 (11) Start MC26 from C: \ Program Files \ J River \ Media Center 26
 (12) Reconstructed short cut
 (13) Right-click and select the MC shortcut,
Select "Maximized" or "Normal window" under [Properties]-> [Shortcut] ... [Run] ... Select "Minimized" ★ No matter which one you select, it is the same

▲▲ That's all, but the order I tried is out of order, so I think it's worth trying one again in the current state (isn't there "Wondershare"?).
▲ If you look at the above, if you know a lot of things in detail, you may still be aware of the things to try. I expect

◆ I came up with a try (tell me if it's okay to try it)
→ Try uninstalling the display driver. → Windows 10 may bring a general-purpose driver without permission?

★ The current monitor driver is a "general purpose PnP monitor".
(In my device manager, it says "General purpose PnP monitor". This doesn't cause any problems.)
★The monitor name is "iiyama ProLite XB2779QQS-S1"
→ Can't find a driver for "iiyama" support?

that's all

  Thank you tij
"Logitech" is a program of wireless mouse operation settings.
★ I swap the right and left mouse buttons and always operate the mouse with my left hand.
If I disable startup, I have to set it every time, which is a bit annoying.
(→ This time, I disabled it and set it every time from the place where I pinned it to the taskbar.)

★ It seems that the phenomenon (A) has nothing to do with either "valid" or "invalid".

▼ I found one thing.
→(8) Tool → Option → I tried to change the state of start-up in various ways.
★ In the current state, the mode is "standard display" and the save location is "last location".
(→ When closing the MC, a screen appears that seems to memorize the position and size for a moment?)
▲ At this time, if I click "Pause" and then close it, the above moment appears, but if I click "Stop" and then close it, the above moment does not appear.
(→ Both may not be related to the appearance of the phenomenon?)

Re: MC26 startup screen and intermediate screen are strange
« Reply #78 on: September 29, 2020, 11:13:54 am »

★ I searched and tried various things this week

1: Deleted all suspicious files in the PC with Kaspersky's "Complete Scan".
→ As for the result, the phenomenon remains the same.

2: I saw a lot of task managers.
→ There are 68 back ground processes in the process tab. There are 92 Windows processes.
→ In the service tab, there are more than 110 running programs and about 200 stopped programs.
★ Anyway, I found a lot of programs working behind the scenes.

3: I thought that some of these might be the cause of the phenomenon.

★ Then, I found out that it can be checked with msconfig (system configuration), so I tried it.

(1) "Diagnostic start-up" (minimum? System environment)
→ "System Configuration" → General tab → Diagnostic start-up → Reboot
→ Click MC26 →
The MC screen appears, but when I click on the video file, a small window "Cannot start playback" appears.
→ In addition, a small window "Cannot play audio because Windows audio service is not enabled" appears.
→ In the sound control panel, there is nothing in the playback tab, and the message "Audio device is not installed" is displayed.

▲ In the "diagnosis start-up" state (minimum system environment), it is not possible to try playback of MC26.
→ ★ Please let me know if there is a way to make sound in this state.

▲ However, it was confirmed that the screen phenomenon (B) occurred.
→ This minimum? Even in this system environment, the phenomenon problem of the MC26 screen occurs, so it seems that the cause of the phenomenon may not be in the remaining many back ground processes that have been removed.
→ Maybe the cause is a high probability of a bug in MC26?

(2) "Select a start-up option" (You can select the program and service to open)
→ "System Configuration" → General tab → Select the startup option → Deselect "Load start-up item" → Service tab → Select "Hide all Microsoft services" → Click "Disable all" →
(In this state, it seems that the attached 19 programs will be disabled.)
→ Reboot →
▲ Even in this state, the appearance of the MC26 phenomenon was confirmed.
→ Unfortunately, it did not find a solution to the problem.

→ There are many remaining Microsoft-related back ground processes, but it is possible to disable them one by one and try again, but I stopped because it is dangerous. (Although there was a site showing what should not be erased and what is unnecessary)

★ I couldn't find the cause of the phenomenon, so I restored everything to its original state.

▲ Please let me know if you have anything else to try.

Thank you to tij, Matt, JimH, and everyone else.

★ The same phenomenon appears in MC27. It remains the same as MC26.

1: Today, I received an e-mail saying that the MC27 stabilizer was ready on October 7, so I immediately installed it. (Ver.27.0.20)
★ Phenomena (A), (B), and (C) also appear.
(▼ Phenomenon on MC27 (A) Small screen is attached below)

▲ From the results of various trials and errors so far, I think my conclusion is a bug on the MC side.
★ The main reason is
(1) It also appeared in my other personal computer.
(2) It also appeared in the minimum background ground environment in "System Configuration".
(3) There were other people who had similar phenomena.
(4) In MC25, no phenomenon appears.

2: Consultation (suggestion) on how to proceed to the solution after this
(1) Since few people see the posts of MC26 anymore, I will create a new topic in MC27 in the future, reorganize the problem there, and have everyone see it again.
(What about the new topic name "MC27, 26, strange screen phenomenon (continued from MC26)"?)

◆ Has Matt stopped working on phenomena (B) and (C) that he is supposed to do?
→ However, Matt and JimH are currently having a hard time dealing with bugs in the new MC27, so it's okay to deal with me later.
(I'm a little troubled, but not a fatal problem)

→ From now on, please tackle it as a problem of MC27.

▲ Mr. tij, please let me know what you think about these.
