JRemote on iPadOS 14
« on: September 22, 2020, 10:47:18 pm »

In case any users of JRemote on iPad are wondering if it's safe to update to iPadOS14...I've been running that for a couple of days now; JRemote is working perfectly. No glitches or hiccups. You have to grant to app permission (once) to use the local net, but everyone who's done any major Apple update in the last few years has seen that kind of thing before, no sweat.

It's great to see that JRemote is solid enough to survive a major OS update with nary a hitch. Nice work!

Indeed, that would be nice. However, and here I go again, I would very much appreciate to be able to scramble classical works according to linked tracks, like I can in MC on my Mac. Otherwise it is impossible to randomize playing classical music, as now it randomizes by track and not by work (linked tracks).

You might be able to build a smartlist to do that on the server.

Oh, I have done that. I built a classical smart list and I can play it "shuffled" on my iMac where it would shuffle according to linked tracks. From JRemote when I play "shuffled" it would only shuffle tracks, not linked tracks, so it's useless. I can "send" the smartlist to a regular playlist, shuffle that one and then play it from JRemote. At least that lets me play one version of randomized works. Every time I want to "re-randomize" I have to go through the hole process again. I just do not understand why it is difficult, or impossible, to have JRemote shuffle by linked tracks rather than just tracks.

The issue I described also exists on iOS13.6. I don't think it's and OS effect. It's a JRemote limitation
