Upgrading Id MC 26 to 27
« on: December 06, 2020, 12:58:35 am »

I recently purchased an id. It came with MC 26.

I clicked Option 12 "check for updates". The Id seemed to reboot but came to a screen with a few lines (see screenshot)

After 10 mins I had to disconnect power supply, then reconnect. It booted back into MC26 (26.0.107). Further attempts at update reboots to MC 26 (not 27)

TIA

26.0.107 is the current version on the Id.

Oh Okay,thanks Jim

Is 27 on the horizon for the Id or is it totally independent/ out of step with other upgrade versions?

27 is coming.  The Id will always lag the desktop version since we can't take a chance on delivering a broken build on the Id.

Because of the operating system requirement changes, Id's prior to the NUC7 and IdPi4 builds will not be getting MC27.
MC27 is in testing on the Id's that support it and will be updated soon.

Hi Folks,
Just popping my head up again regarding ID updates  :D
My ID is 24.0.17 with MC latest 26.0.107-5 all working fine.

I see from another post on the forum that there is no update route for the debian OS from ID 24.0.x to ID 25 and above.
I believe this will be a requirement to upgrade from MC26 to the new MC27. Can this be confirmed?

So is it planned to provide an upgrade path to MC27 on an ID 24.0.x and if so when is this expected please.
If there is to be no upgrade path for what ever reason, how should we proceed to stay using an ID (IE what hardware is required and at what cost, etc)

Regards all.

I never got a reply to this enquiry, I've posted again elsewhere.
I'm noting that JR are now on MC 28 development and still no MC27 for the ID.

Where do I determine the base hardware spec for MC27 abd beyond.
I've seen NUC7, etc but is my NUC2820 newer or older than that ??

I'm sure others must be frustrated by this too.

Regards

The 2820 was our original Id model and used for the first 4 revisions of the Id.
The NUC7 is the base model for newer versions of MC on the Id past MC26.
This is because MC27 required an operating system version update and that's not an OTA update for NUC Id's older than the NUC7.
If you have the ability to send your unit back to us we can upgrade it to the new operating system at a charge.
Send an email to deanna (at) jriver (dot) com for more details.
