JRiver Media Center 27.0.85 for Windows -- Available Here
« on: April 22, 2021, 06:55:10 am »

This is a new build of JRiver Media Center 27.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted.

Download 64-bit build
https://files.jriver.com/mediacenter/channels/v27/latest/MediaCenter270085-x64.exe (works on 64 bit systems only)

Download 32-bit
https://files.jriver.com/mediacenter/channels/v27/latest/MediaCenter270085.exe

27.0.85 (4/19/2021)

1. Fixed: ICY metadata was not working in the previous build.
2. Changed: Simplified the buffering approach of the MP3 plugin.
3. Changed: Removed unintended double-buffering in mp4 plugin.
4. Fixed: In WMA plugin if "Disable audio buffering to disk" option (Linux only) was used, a file buffer was still created.
5. Changed: The file type is passed along with Radio Paradise files so it no longer needs to hit the server for it.

27.0.84 (4/16/2021)

1. Fixed: When playing URLs, two layers of ICY parsing could happen causing hiccups in the audio.

27.0.83 (4/15/2021)

1. Fixed: With memory playback enabled, playing some streaming stations with ICY metadata could fail after a while.

27.0.82 (4/12/2021)

1. Fixed: Filenames that were exactly the MAX_PATH length would not work.
2. Fixed: WASAPI loopback was not working.

27.0.81 (4/7/2021)

1. Fixed: Convolution did not work properly with channels 10 and higher.

27.0.80 (4/6/2021)

1. Fixed: Media Center could create test files for if a directory is writable and leave them in certain cases.
2. Fixed: MC could read ID3v2.2 PIC frame incorrectly causing the JPEG image to lose "start of image" marker.
3. Fixed: YouTube playback was not working for many videos.

27.0.79 (4/1/2021)

1. Fixed: The system volume would not always work properly due to a recent change.

27.0.78 (3/30/2021)

1. Fixed: Several WavPack bitrates did not work.
2. Changed: Ripping to CUE did not work nicely unless concurrent ripping and encoding was selected.
3. Changed: Added a sanity check to the Repeat(...) expression so it will only repeat 100 times then output "... (x more)".
4. Fixed: The password shown in Options > Media Network would be incorrect characters.
5. Fixed: DSD playback would incorrectly report an increase of 6 dB when bitstreaming.

27.0.77 (3/22/2021)

1. Fixed: Google image lookup was not working.

27.0.76 (3/19/2021)

1. Changed: Internal FF/REW change in JRiver Video Engine (using DirectShow).
2. Changed: Minor change in DirectShow graph building for analog TV tuners or video capture devices.  Please report back if you have any issues with this change.
3.  Fixed: Media Center could crash in some circumstances.

Also if you're using the 64-bit build of Media Center and you use an ASIO driver or something else for your DAC, it might only have a 32-bit driver thus requiring the use of the 32-bit build of Media Center (as MC23 was 32-bit only).

Hi There, I had been streaming radio Paradise successfully by adding the URL link:
https://stream.radioparadise.com/flac
Until I updated to the 27.0.85 version and it stopped working coming up with "nothing to play".
Ah -I hear you say why not just use the streaming link loaded in the task bar and on the JR streaming page?
This is also problematic as it has a gap in the playback towards the end of the track which gets old fast.
Any help in solving either of these issues would be appreciated.
Thank You

Yes... That annoying gap has never been fixed.  A work around is to use large buffer.  2000ms or more.  Then the issue is a slow response time.

Can Not Burn CD's anymore
« Reply #6 on: May 10, 2021, 11:25:51 am »

I can't Burn CD's anymore on my JRiver 27. Even a Test mode won't work. It just goes to Writing In then just stays there. Dose not Burn at all.
 I have now wasted 9 Blank CDR's.

Thanks for the reply JK, I tried increasing the buffer and it reduced the gap -its there every song to remind you that JRiver really dont care about their product and that Foobar works just fine...

Trying to install MC27 in a new build. I download the installer and when I attempt to run the program I receive an "Extraction Failed" "File is Corrupt" error and the installation will not advance. Any advice? I've turned off all the Windows Security features temporarily, but that didn't work. I've tried several times to re-download the installer, but it's still not working. Thanks, CB

Try the 32 bit version of MC.

Symptoms may imply unstable windows install?
easy and free test is to  open the Command Prompt in windows as an administrator and type: "sfc /scannow"
good chance scan may surface with repairs.  if repairs were performed, then reboot and retry.

MC does not play nice with Microsoft Power Toys Fancy Zones. Fancy Zones allows to dock program windows to user defines locations. I use it to place several programs in metadata editing sessions (MC27, jaikoz, itunes, roon, tidal). MC simply does not react to the zones generated in Fancy zones.

Commands are not processed in the correct order.

The following keys are assigned:
<Entry Key="Ctrl;Shift;W" Command="22001" Param="2" Global="1" />
<Entry Key="Ctrl;Shift;R" Type="Program" Command="mc27.exe" Param="/PlayReplace selected" Global="1" />
<Entry Key="Ctrl;Shift;T" Type="Program" Command="mc27.exe" Param="/Append selected" Global="1" />
<Entry Key="Ctrl;Shift;H" Type="Program" Command="mc27.exe" Param="/PlayNext selected" Global="1" />

To add a track or album to 'Playing now' I use a macro which sends Ctrl-Shift-T followed by Ctrl-Shift-W. What happens now, is that the first command is executed last. Instead of adding the item to Playing Now and then switch to Playing Now, it does it reverse.
MC switches to Playing now and appends the selected item in Playing now to the end of the list.

If the computer is shut down while MC is left open, upon restart, MC displays the crash warning about using the main library and OEM skin.

I thought mc 27 would over write mc 26 and keep my vsts.  But, still have 26 and now have 27 and had to copy all vsts again.  Is this typical?  had to kill internet and windows defender to stop popping sound which i did not have with mc 26.

Try taming Windows Defender for MC27, and exclude MC27's executables and folder(s).

I don't know why I stopped seeing some cover images (and the jpeg is there and I tried again and again - even if I embedded them in files - they will not show). The numberplay worked fine for the last 4 or 5 years, not now.
I have the folder MC27 in exclusion for Defender. All this came "suddenly", I can't really tell when and no clue for the why.
Thank you.

RadioParadise on the Library Server cannot be controlled from a Remote MediaCenter.

Both MC running in Theatermode. When adding songs from RadioParadise, Library server reports:
"The database entries for the selected files are missing or invalid"
