I see the Chromecast Ultra in VLC and can easily playback to that renderer.  In MC, I see nothing.  I'm living in a hotel for two months and am keen to get some video to the TV from a Surface Pro 7 running Windows 10 Home.  Am I missing something easy?

Unfortunately, no.  Life was good on my Sonly Bravia (which is now in a crate ready to start a transoceanic voyage!) but this rental I'm in just has a TV with HDMI.  So it's Chromecast or nothing.  I was surprised that VLC could handle it easy-peasy.  I'd rather not pay for an Android app and have to run it through my phone.

Jim, thanks for the thought.  The link looks nice, but I'll stick with the Raspberry Pi 3+ running OSMC for now - it ain't elegant, but it works.  I'd forgotten how nice OSMC was - my wife loves it as a front end.  I might move to Plex for my video library as I already have a lifetime account and it works fine on OSMC.
