PLEASE NOTE -- MC29 is now available

You can now purchase a JRiver Media Center 28 upgrade license at a discount. All licenses are for MC28 and can also be used with MC27.0.79 or higher. MC28 is available on the Download Page.

MC28 will continue to improve throughout the year. Minor upgrades are free.

Upgrade Prices

You can use an upgrade license from any previous version of JRiver Media Center, even Media Jukebox 8.0, to upgrade.

The special price to order an upgrade for Windows, Mac or Linux is temporarily $19.98. A Master License upgrade for all three OS's is $27.98.

INSTRUCTIONS
To direct you, we need to check a few things.

Have you ever purchased MC?
If not, there is no upgrade price. Sorry. Here's how to download and purchase a license.

Do you have your Registration Code for your older version?
If not, you can email it to yourself Here.

Now you're ready to purchase, but we need to know what OS you have and what license you want.

Are you planning to use more than one OS?
If so, you will need a Master License, which works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can purchase from the Help menu of a current version or you can go here:

Master License Upgrade (direct link) ~~$39.98~~ $34.98.

Or do you only need Windows or only Mac or only Linux?
Then you can get the new license here:

Windows Upgrade (direct link) ~~$27.98~~ $22.98.

Mac Upgrade (direct link) ~~$27.98~~ $22.98.

Linux Upgrade (direct link) ~~$27.98~~ $22.98.

Problems
Requires MC28 from the Download Page. This MC29 license will also work with the final releases of MC28.
Is your license not accepted when you upgrade?
Make sure you're on the right upgrade page.
Use copy and paste. 0 (zero) and O (letter) look alike. So do 1 (number one) and l or I (letters).

Don't have your license? Visit the Restore Page and use option #2 to email yourself your license(s).

Restoring a backup of your library. MC makes them automatically. You can use your OS to search for zip files to find them. MC can restore a backup from MC20 and above.

Hola, buenas tardes, ahora mismo solo tengo el programa de prueba, es decir, no lo he comprado todavía. ¿Entiendo que, para comprar la licencia de la versión 28, antes he tenido que comprar el programa con una versión anterior...??

Still hoping for a way of selecting individual stars, directors, producers, writers, and so on and from there drill down to what movies that particular member´s in and from there selecting a movie and so forth.

All licenses sold now are for MC28. They also work with MC27.0.79.

I just pre-ordered MC28. Every time I pre-order I save the .mjr file on my Win10 machine & double click it but can never tell if it is applied to my current install. When I look at the Help->Registration Info it shows my current version (27.27.0.85) is registered but I can't tell if the upgrade is registered. What do I need to do to make sure my new registration code has been applied? Thanks in advance.

The license was installed and will work when you install MC28.

Hello, I have a windows licence for v18. Can I upgrade to actual version but on Linux? I use WIn only for work, All my personal stuff is on Linux (debian or ubuntu derivated)

Yes. You can use your old license to upgrade to a different OS or to a Master license.

I want to fill you in on a possible issue. I upgraded using PayPal as a payment method, however once I finished the transaction, I was redirected to JRiver confirmation page stating that there was a verification error. However, I got the new email with the new product activation key. Is there going to be any issues. I did submit the PayPal Transaction ID and the email address I use with JRiver still stated a Verification error.

Best way is to scour the release notes for each major Media Center version. You can also scroll down to the bottom of the forums (on the main forums page) to Old Versions and look at each specific old Media Center section, and each should have a New in MCXX topic listing some of the changes.

Are there any plans to include Qobuz streaming as part of the package or an enhanced package at extra charge?

I have been continuing with my MC upgrades because I appreciate and respect the community involvement and help in development. I think the MC interface with its multitude of user options is fabulous and it would be my preferred choice, but I stopped using it because I cannot stream Qobuz via DLNA/ethernet.

So I've switched to Audirvana, but I'd go back to MC in a heartbeat if I could get Qobuz.

Do a search of the forums, Jim (JRiver's CEO) has said multiple times they have no plans on doing any integrations of streaming services like Qobuz, Tidal, etc. Their stance on that likely hasn't changed.

ASIO is a driver that comes from the manufacturer of the sound device, not from JRiver. JRiver usually supports whatever it can do.

I'm planning to upgraded to MC28 immediately.

I've always had the Windows version but in the past year purchased by first idPi with MC. Do I need a master license to include upgrades for the Pi or are those included? Another thread I saw mentioned Option 12 for upgrading but I wasn't sure if a license was needed. Thanks!

I bought a Master link for MC28 and intended to change my email at the same time, but when I clicked on the link I received a message saying I was using MC27 for Windows and to use the correct link instead (or something to that effect). I always buy Master Link upgrades, so I thought the problem occurred because I was trying to change my email address and at the time I was using a Windows version of MC27. I assumed that was causing what caused the problem. I decided to repurchased the Master link for MC28 using my old email address and that seems to be working or at least I think it is. When I opened MC27 I see at the top a message: "Moving to MC28 From An Older Version." Now, how do I go about receiving a refund for my first purchase? The Link I'm not using is Media Center28 Master-530761. The one I am using is Media Center28 Master-530763. Thanks for your help. Karl

Done, upgraded from MC 22 to 28.

I have an issue with the time remaining on a playlist. How do I rectify this?

In MC 22 I could see the total time a playlist had remaining but I can't see that in MC 28.

I keep getting a message to reinstall MC28. 28 doesnt open so i really cant troubleshoot. I tried reinstall several times but cant get past the reinstall popup. I do run 28 on another screen if that matters.Using MC28 windows 64bits. Please advise. hvac

Hi, just purchased MC28 and I now have downloaded file: Media Center28 Master-532434.mjr.
If I double click on this file I get a message that says -- Your license is for a different product. WHAT?
I wish your installation instructions were more specific and clear.
What am I to do with this mjr file?
How do I get MC28 installed over my MC25?

I think i just paid for the upgrade to 27 due to being off the grid/moving across the country for the past year, so is there a way to avoid paying again?? i literally got it like a month ago i think.

I already have and use MC28. For some unknown reason when I play one file it plays on MC27. This is not my preference but I don't mind either. If this is a problem, let me know and advise me what to do about it and I will. Thanks.
