 While I was watching a movie, suddenly the power went out. When I finally reactivated everything, the htpc no longer detects the external hard drive where I keep all the files so I had to give it a new letter via disk management. But now MC no longer finds the files, as if I had deleted them from the library. I'm sure there is a way to quickly restore the entire library, but I can't find it.

Hmm, did you give it a different drive letter than what it had before? I would shut down MC and MC Server, then try to assign the drive letter back to what is was previously and verify all your files are still there in windows explorer. Then start MC up again.

Hard to remember the previous drive letter, so I'd have to try it. Anyway, the files are all there in Windows Explorer

You can see correct drive letter from filename (path) field. enter "filename" to tag panel's filterin to find it  easily

Solved by changing the letter of the external hard drive!
