With the new version of 28.049 I am finding it impossible to rip movies. Yesterday I was ripping three movies at a time and after update I can not do even one. It seems very fragile, after a short period of time, it stops, rescans the disc and no further progress is possible. I am using AnyDVD for the unlocking.

Would very much appreciate getting this working again. Have 1400 movies to rip in the que.

Did you configure anti virus/window defender for newly installed version 28?

I am not using Windows defender, have another anti virus and a hardware firewall. Have been using your version 28 since it was available without problem so far.

Just make sure you exclude MC28 from your antivirus (there should be option there for making exception).

Are you having problem with one particular disc or all of them? Which disc ... BD, DVD, UHD?

Also ... new MC28 integrates with MakeMKV to do what AnyDVD does ... possible they are conflicting ... make sure only one is enabled

PS. personally i rip with MakeMKV outside of MC (use MKVguitoolnix to add additionwl subtitles or audio) ... then move rip files for MC to import.

Thanks for your help. In the past I could use MC for the ripping no problem. Now I have decided I should try MakeMKV. It looks like it will work. And I think I need to uninstall AnyDVD.

Another question. When both AnyDVD and MakeMKV installed and push Rip button on MC, is MC supposed to give a choice which program is used to rip with?

I dont think it gives you choice ... you supposed to manually enable/disable ... but makemkv amd anydvd decrypting at same time can cause problem

OK. I am testing how MakeMKV now. I tried disabling the AnyDVD in the Task manager, but now getting confused what is happening. MC just about finished ripping a blueray, but then failed. Maybe I did something to interrupt. It will take time.

One thing I do like on MC is the CD data base which keeps all you graphics, text and what not of both music and videos. When re-ripping is needed everything comes back to your settings.

My main use for MC is playing back my music collection. Have taken a lot of time to get the artwork and the text done carefully. My collection runs over 8000. So re-ripping can be very time consuming for that many. If you have an interest, I have a format for the smart lists to pair up the tracks, albums and artwork between the CD and Main DB's. It is a little bit of a pain to use, but almost on a daily basis I am making corrections. My goal is the corrections are also make on the CD data base. Anyway right now if I insert a CD and push rip, all my corrections are carried over.

I think I need a day for testing and then get back to you.

I am in Thailand and shortly I go to get my first Covid-19 jab. This is a high priority item to me. We are bursting with new case now.

MC rips movies in folder structure.

MakeMKV can also rip in folder structure. But i prefer mkv for:

1. Folder structure rips preserve 3D and Dolby Vision ... but nothing plays it (3D will play in 2D, DV will play in hdr10) , unless you burn it on disc.

MakeMKV can preserve 3D and Dolby Vision inside mkv ... and streamer/PC can play them

2. For identical AV quality mkv are slighgly smaller than m2ts (1-4gb) due to less container overhead

Only downside to mkv is extra features (which i dont care about ... but some do)  ... hard to manage

EDIT: reason i do mkv outside MC ... its quite involving, need to figure and name correctly audio/subtitle tracks (main audio, commentary, audio description, etc)

Plus sometimes disc are protected with dummy playlist ... need to figure which one is correct

If you do folder rips ... above does not apply as you rippimg everything

Could  be antivirus.  Windows Defender by itself is recommended if configured.

Don't use makeMKV and AnyDVD.  Use one or the other.
