Elementary question on using volumio with jriver
« on: August 25, 2021, 12:32:56 pm »

I currently am using mc directly from my computer to my dac via usb. I have been told the sound quality will improve if I play my files through a network bridge/streamer? Can this be done, after I connect the network bridge, on my pc through volumio so I only see and use jriver ? If so is it stable? I just upgraded to mc 28.

There is no reason to do that.

USB direct to your DAC should be the best sound possible.

If you want to use Volumio, please read about DLNA on our wiki.  If you're trying to play to it, then Volumio is a DLNA or UPnP Renderer.

I agree with Jim that there is no benefit to using a network rather than USB. But in the case that you do, Volumio and JRiver work together without issue. It is stable.

I don't know what devices you are planning on using in your network, but you should look into using JRiver instead of Volumio for them. I have a stereo that has a version of Volumio running on it. Not my choice, it's what the manufacturer used. Though it works fine I would much rather JRiver installed.
