Antarctica

J. Riverite, John Gateley, took three weeks off in March, 2003, to visit Antarctica.  He took a Russian ship, along with about 40 others.

I saw some of the pictures last night.  They are spectacular!  He posted a few today here:

Hi HTH,

I used Velvia, Fuji 100, and Fuji 800. I only had one body though, so the pictures got taken with whatever was in the camera at the time. I had a fast 35-70mm zoom, and a slow 70-300mm zoom (thus the 800 speed film).

The landscapes there are incredible. Makes it easy to take pictures :)

I would have thought you were using a fish-eye, or something close to it. Great vistas - and the colors are almost supernatural.

Strangely, there was only once or twice I missed having a fish-eye lens. Most of the landscapes I took were probably closer to 70 mm than to 35mm. The lake in patagonia is a classic "velvia" color, but most of the landscapes are close to accurate representations of the colors I saw - it really looked like that (actually, it looked even better). Glad you liked them, I'll post a link to more soon.
